I've really only seen 40's in the 12.xx range with some outliers in the 13, that would be a thick 40w.

I'll add that I've run two different 40s in my car and my hot idle was 10 psi lower than I am right now with this stuff.

Consider the lab that ran the test.
Castrol Edge Full Synthetic 0W-20SP01/22/22Blackstone0000006500018012573911761710834052.88.124256.4

Castrol advertises the viscosity as 8.18. Blackstone is way closer in this case.

Everything lines up pretty close between these two.

Once again, very close.

I'm not saying BS is perfect. They use an inferior fuel% method and they make mistakes like all the other labs do. It's just magnified because they have such a big chunk of the business. But you guys want to keep bashing them like they are a bunch of incompetent idiots. 🤷‍♂️

SAE j300 would not even allow it to be rated as a 50 under 16.3cst. For whatever reason Blackstone always shows viscosity as lower than it really is. Their "values should be" isn't even right either. Should say 16.3-21.9.
Maybe a reason M1 dont show it on typical spec🤔 And aslo arent the Porsche approval A40 based on xx-40 viscosity 🤔

Thanks for posting, my go-to oil on the Porsches and the Rover diesel, but after a discussion w/ a few other P'car folks, I may switch to Redline 10w-50...

don't now if i go with mobil delvac 1 5w-40 or m1 5w-50 in my land cruiser (diesel), Probably the m1 5w-50 have work good in your Rover diesel?

Hi, yes, but the engine has less than 10k mi/16K km. The oil pressure is very high, so I am thinking of the Delvac 5w-40, but I have not had any issues w/ the 5w-50. Both are very good choices. Given your local climate, I may go w/ the 5w-40, but either will be excellent choices.
