163,000 miles on the engine. 7,492 miles and 7 months on the oil. 1.5 qt makeup oil. Mexican WIX 57712 oil filter. Central North Carolina climate (mild winters, hot summers). Mainly moderate suburban and freeway driving. A little urban driving.

Looks like the coolant from the previous analysis a couple of oil changes ago has mostly worked its way out of the oil passages.

From looking at the viscosity, glad I switched to Mobil 1 FS 0w-40 for this current OCI.

Oil did perfectly fine, I would have stuck with 5W-30.

Keep in mind that Blackstone tends to read low on viscosity compared to other labs (up to 1cSt). There have been several posts here where the same oil was sent to multiple labs.

With 163k & 1.5 qts in 7.5k miles it seems your Impreza is still buzzing along. Results look good like they stated.

Have you thought about running some VRP to see if you can get consumption down?

I went with a thicker oil this time because i plan on running this car harder than i have been, and don't want to worry shearing out of grade, etc. There also seems to be a relationship between manufacturer-claimed viscosity and consumption, so I want to see in the case of an oil that's far thicker than what i've used to date.
On that note, I've strongly considered (and am still considering) going VRP, depending on whether (and to what degree) there's any significant reduction in consumption on this change.
