Here's an analysis on my wife's car. She uses the car for real estate appraisal, so the car sees mostly stop-and-go driving and heavy traffic. Blackstone commented that lead was high. The car has 82,000 mi., and I have changed the oil every 3000-4000 mi. using Mobil 1 10w30. This is the first OCI past 4000 mi., and the first OCI with M1 0w40. I'm currently in the first phase of Auto-RX. Comments/suggestions appreciated.

I was never impressed with the 0W-40 Mobil 1. The numbers could be symptomatic of the AutoRx although that's pure speculation. If you want to stay with Mobil possibly try the 5W-40 Delvac 1 or a mix of 10W-30 and 15W-50.

Pb is coming in at around 2.28 ppm per 1K miles. Although it's not great, it's not that bad. We've seen a lot worse but in my ziel for the "perfect" oil, I would try something else as mentioned by other members. I'm using the 5W-30 M1 on the my 02 Accord V6 and getting better numbers and that's with 5500 miles, better lead that is but not copper, mine was a lot higher. Could be the 40 is just too much. That's a pretty big VI spread too, IMHO. How's that transmission holding up?

I'll probably go back to M1 10w30 after the Auto-RX. The 0w40 was an impulse buy for my Z28, but I decided not to use it for that car.

I haven't had any problems with the trans, although it's not the smoothest or quietest trans in the world. I got a notice in the mail that Honda is extending the warranty on the trans to 100,000 mi.

Yeah, that is what I was getting at to see if you got that info from Honda. I think it's 100K and/or 7 years. Might want to keep that in mind for next year. I just found out about it, but supposedly the 02's have the problem fixed. I hope so, new rebuilt trans runs about 5K installed. OUCH.

I think the 10w-30 is a better choice for this engine. Not sure why all the lead but I bet it would improve with the 10w-30. I think it is mobil's best for the Japaneese engines.
