After reading lots of positive MMO comments, I picked up a quart a couple of days ago.

Yesterday I put 4oz in my 93 S10 Blazer's gas tank (half full) and 8 oz in the oil, which has about 2000 miles on it's last change, still golden/amber on the dipstick.

I got this Blazer a couple of months ago with 91k original miles, pretty good condition for the year. The main issues was a slight miss/surge when going at slower steady speeds, and after it has sit for several hours (typically overnight), it will blow a puff of smoke after starting. Just that one pretty good puff of smoke the instant it starts and not a spec afterwards or during the day after it's started again while warm. I have read that's pretty normal on this year of 4.3 Vortec engine due to the valve stem seals.

Put the MMO in the oil day before yesterday and ran it for about 10 miles. Started it up yesterday after noon after sitting a good 12 hours or more and not a hint of smoke on start up. It ALWAYS puffed smoke 100% of the time everytime on start up with as little as 4 hours of sitting, but a bigger puff after 6-8 hours or more. Yesterday was a good 12 hours and it was 100% smoke free on start up.

I let it sit about 6 hours or so and started it up again later yesterday evening.... again not a hint of smoke on startup.

About the MMO in the gas, it could be my excitement over the smoke being gone and just wanting it to run better, but I think it definitely has a more power on take off and smoother idling. It hasn't eliminated the miss/surge (can't exactly tell what it as it's so slight) completely, and maybe it didn't affect that at all.

I know 100% that it DID improve acceleration in our 03 T&C with 124k that's been a little neglected on maintenance. On the hwy earlier this evening it had more pep on passing and accelerating. It wasn't a night and day difference but guaranteed it was an improvement.

So I'm gonna buy this stuff in gallons from now on.

If you're reading this and don't believe in MMO then fine, I can appreciate that. I know it's not a miracle oil and can't fix everything. But for my two cars it made me a regular user now.

why is it a "mystery". i dunno , something that goes both in your gas and oil... it's chemistry simply can't be good for both.

Yeah, it's pretty weird, huh.

Nonetheless, it works in both very well.

why? both came from the same source originally when it was pumped out of the ground. and if you're using syn then it too is just mimicking dino oil.

so by that rule you can run bitumen through your fuel system because frankly it comes from the same place too...

LOL

I was just commentating how the chemistry of one product could be a compliment to two different ones.

It's amazing how many people say it works for them, and yet there's people who have never tried it and feel it's necessary to try to disprove it. That's stupid.

Either it has worked for a person and they like it, or they used it and it did nothing for them and they still have either a positive or neutral view of it, or they have never used it and think they know more than those who it has worked for.

MMO has been around forever, it's not a new product. If a car has been maintained perfectly with perfect gas, etc, then MMO will probably not do anything for that car but it will not hurt it.

The majority of cars get 'dirty' as they get older and from what I have read on this forum and dozens of others, it makes a tremendous difference in various ways.

So either try it and see what happens, or continue to be afraid and jealous of everyone else who has. It will not change my mind either way.

So many people I know or have spoken with over the years share similar reports. They notice improvements quickly, a cleaner engine as viewed thru the oil fill cap [if visable], smoother engine, more power, easier cold starts, less oil use, smoke stops, better mpgs, etc. Many will tell you it is the best money they've ever spent on an additive.

c3po was a skeptic with an open mind and took a shot at trying it after speaking with me about it. He had first tried it in the gas and liked the way 2 of his cars were running after. He was hedging on adding it to his oil. I had said to him try it for the last 500 miles of his OCI and use only a pint. I had gotten a call from shortly after adding it and he was amazed at the difference it made in how the car felt. Needless to say he's hooked and probably a customer for life. Sounds like you're a customer for life too.

I watch for sales, and have been getting 4 qts for less than the cost of a gallon for years. I probably over close to 30 qts on hand. Good luck with it!

It seems to have a reasonable solvent effect in the oil, and some solvent and lubricant effect in the fuel. I'm not so surprised when someone adds a quart they notice changes - most additives are 12-16 oz.

I used some in the oil of the daughter's purchased old Accord the first drain. Seemed to clean a bit. Now with this dino oil and Fram the thing has a heck of click-clack when cold. I'm gonna add some MMO to see what happens! I want to get it clean enough for Amsoil long drains.

Sounds like a plan, try a qt for 3000 miles. Then go with the Amsoil and a good filter for the extended drain.

After 20 years and 218k miles, I know my '89 Corolla pretty well. It gets a couple of "glugs" of MMO in the gas tank at fill up (10 gallons when the low fuel light comes on) and a couple of "glugs" in the crankcase after I change the oil. All of the original fuel system parts still work like new including the in-tank fuel pump. If MMO is poison, it must be slow poison because it hasn't killed my car in 20 years. Of course the engine internals were spotless last time I had the valve cover off to check the valve clearances (4AFE Engine).

I don't think anybody can discount the benefits of a little top cylinder lubrication during a cold start or even in a fully warmed up engine driving down the highway.

+1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

although i didnt remove the valve cover for a visual, i can say that after running it in the oil for 1000 miles, my 81 fairmont runs a [censored] of alot smoother

You want to put a chlorinated-benzene and naphthenes and mineral spirits in your oil? This is the stuff refined OUT of the oil. I guess you should be using a group 1 API- SA motor oil. Very, very silly BITOG nonsense.

Yourmay be running the wrong oil. Charcoal lighter fluid and lamp oil would provide a similar solvent effect.

Really? Do those products contain oil of wintergreen among other things?

Read the post 3 posts above yours.

See that he has gone 218k miles using it. Really killed his motor.

He has gone about 4 times longer on his car than ANYTHING you have had so I'd prob be VERY quiet with your posts...

Maybe read and LEARN something since these members are getting miles out of their engines.

Something it seems you have no experience with....

everyone knows that modern gas is very poor quality, dry, and corrosive. so it only makes sense to add oil to it. myself, i add outboard oil, because it is actually designed and there are standards for it. and if it is good in a 2 stroke, therefore, it must be twice as good for a 4 stroke. however, MMO is a very cheap formulation of 2 stroke oil, but because of its clever name and mysterious packaging, people still buy it, and it does work, just not as good as the most modern 2 stroke oils. as far as putting it into the crank case, that is where i would draw the line. modern SM oil is extraordinarily high quality, and putting MMO into it just waters it down and makes it worse. we all know that thin oil is better than thick, so what i do, instead of thinning my oil with MMO, which is stupid, I thin it out by putting in 1 quarts of MC semi synth 5w20, 1-2 quarts of synth 5w30 (depending on whether winter or summer), and the rest conventional 5w30 (which is a group 2 already anyway). and THAT is how it is done, at least by the pro's who know what they're doing.
