I've got 2-3 quarts of Rotella T 5W-40 "synthetic" that I'd like to use up but I don't have anything with a sump that small. I'll need to add a quart or two of something else to it, or add it to something else.

Anyone have an idea what oil might have the most similar chemistry? Something thinner wouldn't be a bad either since I don't really have anything that requires a 40 weight...

I am running Rotella T on my car... i had a cam seal leak and exactly 1 quart leaked out. I fixed the leak and I just put a quart of Supertech 10w30 back in.

Why not just buy a few more quarts of Rotella. WalMart sells it in quart bottles now.

That's news to me. I'll have to look for it at the local Wallys since in the past all they've had were gallons. That's certainly the easy solution.

Whenever I mix (almost always), I choose to use the same manufacturer/same name brand on label. In this case, if you're willing to go the synthetic blend route, if I couldn't find your exisiting Rotella in quart bottles, I would fill the remaining crankcase with conventional Shell Formula 10w30.... making it a real nice syn-blend.
