MicroGreen Cartridge Filters

I've wondered the same thing myself. I have used the spin on filters for a couple of years now and they do seem to perform as advertised, as demonstrated by UOA. If you want details on the function of the cartridges I would recommend contacting them rather than opening it up for speculation on this forum.

It says:
"The '2 filters in 1' design of the microGreen® oil filter combines an advanced synthetic pre-filter with a premium pleated filter. The pre-filter is made of advanced materials that offers advanced filtration efficiency yet is highly resistant to heat and pressure. The pre-filter is combined with the highest quality pleated filter element to ensure extended and high performance filtration efficiency and the highest engine protection."

I take that as the outside green layer is the pre-filter that removes all the larger stuff, and the pleated media behind the green layer is the very efficient filtering media. No oil is "bypassed" ... it all goes through both layers of filtering.

Kind of the same way the Fram Ultra works with it's dual layer media.

^Yes. I don't think that they are claiming that you can do the 30K mile OCI with the cartridge filters. This makes me wonder why they felt the need to dilute their brand. They added air filters, too. They, too, have foam prefilters.

I've spend so much time on their website looking for filtering data, but they seem to be caught up in marketing to fleet customers and how much money they promise to save you over a 30,000 OCI

I meant to actually use the contact form and ask them your specific question. I am using the spin-on filters to reduce my environmental impact and generation of waste.

Microgreen is a great concept. It might make some people believe their saving whales or seals or a flower or something lol. Joking aside these appear to be pretty efficient. Especially the cans. Expensive though.

They run sales on several of the patriotic holidays (July 4, Memorial Day, Veterans' Day) that bring the price down to about $10 each. Even at the normal price of $15 they end up being a good value if you are following the regimen.

If you're just thinking of them as a standard 10K filter then, no, they are probably not worth $15.

MicroGreen has responded below, but they still do not include filtering data.

These don't appear to be anything special... I'll just wait until Fram makes an ULTRA for my particular car.

Hi,

Thank you for your inquiry!

Our cartridge filters are dual stage filters like our spin-on filters, but due to the construction aspects they do not have a microfilter. As such they are not rated down to the 2 micron level. However they are a full synthetic media which has excellent efficiency, capacity and cold flow properties. The pre-filter is vary porous and is designed to enhance capacity. Since the pre-filter is designed to help with capacity it will not load up or restrict oil flow until much later in the lifecycle of the filter...well after the recommended change interval.

Thanks,

Really? Do they have a free shipping if you buy a certain amount$$ or more?
I may be checking them out on holidays.
Good info, thanks.

The shipping is always free, whether you order them from MG directly, or from Amazon. I ended up purchasing mine from Amazon during the sales because they could not seem to get their own web site to apply the discount. Goofy, right? I get emails from them advising me of the discount code prior to the specials. I will continue to share them on BITOG as MG encourages me to share the codes.

They sell them only in 2's. But, if you go on eBay you can often find them being sold individually.
