Microgard Select

Picked this up at O'Reilly auto parts to give it a go. Seem to be built nice and the can is thick and sturdy but i can't say it is grippy like Fram ultra.
The center tube looks nice as well i gave $6.33 after tax using my commercial account the box says made in Vietnam.
According to the O'Reilly website 99% efficiency (Laboratory Test Performance per ISO 4548-12 at 25 microns).

No idea. Made in Vietnam and distributed by Ozark Automotive, and unfamiliar date code and construction doesn't look familiar with any major filter makers.

Great photos. Can you tell if the inner tube is made of plastic or metal?
I suspect that it has lower efficiency similar to the Wix XP vs Wix standard efficiencies.

It is metal not plastic.

$6.33 on a commercial account? An Ultra wouldn't be a whole lot more, an Extra Guard would be 2/3 that price. I've never seen a Vietnamese oil filter before, nor "synthetic resin" media!

Yeah it wouldn't be much more but i bought one to try out. I already got a few ultras on hand but i will say compared to the regular microgard this filter looks ok.

This filter is 99% @ 25u, which is more efficient that the WIX XP, but more along the lines of the standard WIX filters (95% @ 20u).

Did some more digging-- looks like the Microguard Select at O'Reilly is identical to STP Extended Life at AutoZone, which is a Premium Guard Extended Life.

I didn't know they had a plant in Vietnam-not sure if that's better or worse than China! The filter doesn't have the plastic wrap on the open end, nor "100% leak tested" on the dome, that's why I didn't think Premium Guard.
