This filter and unknown 10w30 oil was off of my friend Colton’s used Ram 2500 diesel pickup truck. 2018 truck with 55k on it.

Date on end of can was 05/24/21 and 08:10 kinda sloppy SAE so didn’t photograph that.

Put ROTELLA T5 synthetic blend 10w30 in along with Donaldson filter he had. His other Ram truck I posted in “post your latest oil change he sold that truck this week so no cut and post of that filter.

That filter is clearly waving at us 🤣. This is why I use Mopar or Fleetguard filters only on my Cummins.

Oil is black as expected from a modern Diesel engine. It will look like this after less than 1000 miles.

Diesel trucks are expensive to drive as DD’s. Most owners usually have a purpose because of fuel cost and maintenance expenses.

Just my $0.02

Yeh, I told him to stick with Donaldson filters. He hails horses and teaches kids/people to ride. Time shall tell if he sells this truck or just sucks it up and uses the truck.

Yeah, diesel trucks are very expensive to maintain. When I did oil change on a 21’ Ram 2500 other day at work, our cost was $86~ for Rotella T5 10w30 and STP oil filter. List price was almost $97~

That’s gonna hurt when my stash of Mystik runs out after the next 4 oil changes.

Just my $0.02

In my area, many people drive diesels because they are noisy and smoky and draw lots of attention to their big burly vehicle... basically just for the attention. Whatever spins your beanie, my brodozer.

I think he said 8,900 miles.

He’s thinking of selling this truck if diesel prices don’t go down. I told him “good luck with that happening!”
That’s one of the reasons I sold my ‘06 Ram, just didn’t need that much truck, and the fact I was getting rust starting in places that Fluid Film wasn’t stopping. It had more rust on the frame than my old ‘93 GMC C3500 did! Diesel will come down slowly, but gallon won’t be soon.
