Michelin CrossClimate2 wear concerns

This^^^^^^^. I was lucky to get 20,000 on Michelin Energy Savers in city driving. Replaced with Defender 2's Initial impression. The Defender 2's track well and are quieter and smoother up to about 45. Jolting if the pothole is deep. The Defender 2's lose about 5% mpg city and 10% highway vs. the Energy Savers. 17 Camry. .02
Michelin Energy Savers are horrible. I got 38,000 on a set. From my experiences, LRR tires aren't really good at anything.

Yep. 3 of us got similar results. Some posters driving highway miles have achieved OK numbers. I noticed the utog numbers are dramatically different ,about 400 vs. 800. The Savers are just softer and seem not to take well to the short trip turning and scrubbing of city driving.

I would say that I had more highway miles on mine. The traction was pretty bad. In fact, they were horrible in the rain. I think most LRR tires have poor wet weather traction.

Did you notice a mpg drop on your replacement tires?

No. This was a 2017 Ford Escape 2.0 Ecoboost. I put on Hankook Ventus S1 Noble 2 tires. They were night and day better than the Energy Savers. I value safety over maybe 1/2 mpg savings.

Original tires are not some benchmark.
Manufacturers sacrifice performance for mpg or longevity.
The only Michelin tire that did not last 27k on my car was the Michelin Pilot Super Sport, and they should not last 27k.
I understand that, but my experience has generally been replacement tires are better quality than originals. Not the case this time.
 
That means they were under-inflated. Your factory OE tire pressure spec is what the manufacturer decided on for the OE tire and to give optimal ride quality. Different tires have different carcass designs and distribute the load across the tread differently, so if the outside or inside of the tread starts wearing prematurely then you need to adjust pressures accordingly for that tire. That was not a Michelin problem.
You really seem set on finding fault with anything but the tires and the way they wore. When I originally noted the wear pattern, I increased pressure as you’d expect and kept an eye on them. It still wore edges. Alignment was good. Rotated and balanced regularly at Costco. I’m not the only person whose tires wore like this, and it’s not like this was my first set of tires…

I had a set of Michelin Primacy MXV4s on the Prius once. It delivered similar MPG as the factory Goodyear Integrity but also was much more confident for handling and in the wet. Only had to replace them prematurely due to a crash(wasn’t our fault), body shop said they were discontinued.
 
The cross climate 2 siping changes quickly. The new siping is only deep enough to win tests. Then after that, the stepped siping in the center disappears to 2 straight lines and the shoulder sipe is only partial across. It ends up looking like the original CrossClimate tires.
