Try Gruit instead. There are chemicals in hops which mimic estrogen. Supposedly prior to the purity laws in Germany other herbs were used to provide bitterness but they were excluded in favor of hops because it "calmed down" young men. Brewers would also come down with "Brewers Droop" from handling the Hops.

Something to think about when you wan to have that second beer.

On a side note women may benefit from hoppy beer (IPA).

Balls...

I agree completely. Please don't drink hoppy beers. Leave them for the people who appreciate them (me).

Seriously, though, even in the hoppiest of beers perhaps 8oz of hops goes into 24 bottles, the vast vast VAST majority of which are solids which do not make it into the bottle. So it seems a [censored] in the wind compared to the other bad things I ingest.

Hops are indeed an anaphrodisiac, but the effect is temporary. Drinking hopped beer has never been shown to have a long-term effect on sexual performance. You have to drink ridiculous quantities of beer in a single sitting for it to have even a slight effect on the levels of estrogen and/or testosterone. There are phytoestrogens in tons of other things too.

This is fearmongering, plain-and-simple, and a myth that has never really died.

Drink hoppy beer and enjoy it.

I wouldn't call it a myth, and from my own experience I have noticed that the 6 pack / sitting guys are more likely to have manboobs and have a more feminine/baby face features than the guys who have just a couple of beers per week

Who knows, but hey if you can rock it after pounding a six pack by all means keep at it.

Think that's perhaps due to the larger intake of empty calories and the associated poor lifestyle decisions that go with it?

Most of the Joe Sixpack guys I know prefer beers that have about as much hops as tap water (AB or SABMiller's "light" offerings) and most of the folks I know who prefer strongly hopped craft brews are in far better shape.

Gynecomastia (man-boobs) has more to do with the fact they just consume too many calories and don't exercise enough. The "feminine" facial features observation has nothing to do with their drinking. I can't believe people think that's actually a thing.

Have you ever looked at how many other foods have phytoestrogens? It's in nuts, meats, and stuff you probably eat every day. Avoiding hopped beer because of phytoestrogens is silly. Even the National Institutes of Health has said they provide both health benefits and problems: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3074428/

Believe what you want, but don't go into panic mode just because beer has an ingredient of debatable benefits/downsides. It is alcohol after all, which is basically a poison (if you want to get into fearmongering).

It's a proven fact that the more you drink, the better women look and the more eager you are to hook up with them. Usually this wears off by the next morning when you wake up next to a total stranger who seemed so much prettier the night before.

Love me some hoppy beer! Spread the word so the masses leave it alone and leave more for us!

I do have to say hefeweizens are by far my favorite though!!

That too. I wasn't trying to fear monger. I never said don't drink beer at ALL.

. I'm Obviously not worried being that I have two batches of Heffeweizen fermenting at home.

You Sir, have spoken truly blasphemous words and must be banned from the face of this dear earth!

I knew there was something odd going on. I always feel hoppy after having a few hoppy beers.

Maybe they should quit sitting around drinking beer and go out and do something productive.

They sound like girls alright - down here a 6 pack is a before breakfast drink. Sitting down drinking it would be a 24 box or 2.

Hoppy, IPA, Pilsner, Lager, Ale. Makes no difference to me. Beer was made to be consumed, wine was made to be lay down and aged. I tried a few different beers while travelling recently. Genesee, Southern Tier IPA, Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald, and the new Busch Copper Lager. They were all delicious. I will say the Copper Lager was the best with buffalo wings.
