Here is everything off the data sheet, which includes pour point and brookfield. I will look tomorrow and add the PDSC and wear results.

The cold climate version is noted as “CC” and has Group IV oils as the base.
Right, but they have the PAO (CC version), and the more G3 non-CC version. That table he provided matches what I saw for the CC version (however I came up with it: a post by @Spedestrian ?). Spedestrian also showed a table for the non-CC, but it had no Brookfield or KRL info…so I thought maybe @HPL Plant Manager might be able to fill in the blanks.
Ford keeps insisting I use the 75w85, which leads me to think there is some need for thinner oil, but of course all the old-schoolers think I need 75w140. I will probably flip a coin between Severe Gear 75w90 and 75w110, unless HPL has another Black Friday sale, and somehow convinces me their non-CC 75w90, which kind of splits the difference in viscosity between the 2 Amsoil’s, is as good, and not way more expensive.

We now only have one version of the Differential Life fluids - which were the cold climate versions prior. We no longer manufacture the "non" cold climate version as the cost to make those was surpassing the cost to make the cold climate version. Yes we will have another sale this year - will be a small business saturday and cyber monday sale.

Thats unfortunate. The non-cold climate version had much better results in the wear test.

Perhaps this was covered elsewhere, but I'm not accustomed to seeing COC flash points that low for gear oils (in general). I don't anticipate a problem for a gear lube, but is there a particular driver behind that?
Yep, I'm going Amsoil for my next diff fluid change. It's interesting that Amsoil is actually a huge bargain compared to Motorcraft fluid.

As I've read through this long thread it seems that application is the most critical for decision making so I hope I'm descriptive enough without being too verbose: We have a 21' BMW X7 40i (B58) and they are known for a hot running front diff and transfer case failures. I'm currently trying to address the differentials to ensure longevity of those components. I replaced the fluid in the differentials at 29,812 miles (last November) and I'm sitting at 33,804. I replaced it with the spec'd BMW fluid, BMW G2 75W-85 for the front diff and BMW G3 70W-80 for the rear diff. However after reading through this and wanting to provide better wear protection, I was wondering if switching to Amsoil SG 75W-85 or 75W-90 for both front and rear would be a good idea. I have already ordered magnetic drain plugs for these and will be installing them, so I don't mind replacing relatively fresh fluid. I just want to make sure I'm not making some boneheaded move that will cause issues I'm trying to avoid.
The X7 is our family hauler, mostly short trips and no towing. Climate is Pittsburgh, PA so it ranges from 0°F to 100°F at worst. Again, just looking for longevity and to avoid some unforeseen compatibility issue when switching to an objectively great performing gear oil.

That’s the funny thing, Navi. Based on the data, I think there’s three oils that are really good, and two that are good. You couldn’t give me a lifetime supply of Gear Plus Ultra and expect me to use it.
@dnewton3 has shared several times, simply finding a gear oil on the J2360 QPL and using that will be a huge step towards a long, healthy gear life. It really is that simple once you read the massive amount of in-depth testing required to meet the J2360 requirements!
If one is so inclined, one would make a spreadsheet of every gear oil on the QPL, then populate a second column with the price you can find it, including any shipping. Then, pick whichever gear oil on the QPL has the lowest price with closest availability. Change every 30-50k or whenever it’s water-contaminated, and never worry again!

Yes, the QPL list is the only thing to believe. Just because a gear oil says J2360, only believe those on the official list. You can find it by searching “J2360 QPL” on the ‘webz…
Only trust gear oils actually on the “Qualified Product List”, not impostors that claim J2360 but aren’t on the list. There are many good gear oils not on the QPL because of the cost and time involved, but if you’re looking to pinch pennies, the QPL is the only real way to know the gear oil is legit up to hardcore use. The ones that aren’t on QPL need to be based on your belief that the company is trustworthy. There are a few gear oil companies here I’d trust even though they’re not on the QPL.
