a 5 qts jug now costs ~ $18 at walmart in north jersey.it was only around $13 a year or two ago. what's happening and is it a good idea to stick with this oil?

Some of it may have been the change to the new spec. I thought there was also a post earlier today wondering if Wal-Mart would still carry Motorcraft Filters. Trop Artic is reported to be similar and is like $2.30/quart of you are a member and buy a case.

Do you have a link? A search on Amazon has no results. My FIL uses this oil so it would be a good buy for him.

The new MC is 60% synthetic. The old was far less.

Early last year I bought 2 cases PU 5W20 at $18-19 a case, they shipped it after a month or two. The price a day after I bought it went to $50.
The 2 cases PU 10W30 I bought at the same time for $16-17 a case wasn't available, 3 months later I complaint when they canceled the order, they credited to my account the difference between their sale price and regular price at local store.
Whatever the price they have when you order will be the price you pay.

For less the 20 bucks I say it is a great deal for a 5-7K mile OCI.
