Does anyone have any info the tire brand "Maxxis"? I just bought a couple of P245/45/17 Maxxis MA-V1 tires for a mustang and was wondering if anyone has used these tires before or has them on their ride.

I had M1's on my Aerostar van, 215/70R14 size. For an "off-brand" tire I was duly impressed by their performance, lack of road noise, and traction abilities. I would buy another set in a heartbeat.

I've used Maxxis IT & Desert IT tires on my XR650R dirtbike for a while now.
They are very popular with offroad motorcycles.
Very VERY good grip, and exceptionally long tread life!
I will continue to use them till something better comes along.

I've got 215/75R16 on my Navara (20,000km on them now). Wearing, and handling (particularly standing water) way better than the Deuler A/T that came with the car.

Got them on my 4Runner also (31x10.5R15) happy with them also.

Will be fitting a pair to the rear of the kid's pram soon.

Hehehe I got 31" Maxxis Bighorn's and if they're trying to get a good reputation then I'm convinced!

They are currently on a lifted '94 Grand Cherokee with Cragar steel wheels. I am not lying when I say I have beat the living $h!| out of these tires. My last offroading trip I had them aired down to 18 psi for driving around in the mud pits and sand dunes. I then went to hit the trails (lot's of jagged rocks) the only thing I noticed was a thin slash on the sidewall in the rear tire(looks more like a scratch).

On highway use they are quite as heck considering their aggressive tread pattern. Maxxis is got my big thumbs up.

They are not horrible and not great. They are very durable but also very heavy and generally don't have very good pavement grip within their class. I would run them on a highway or off-road vehicle but not a performance vehicle. Often you can get better offerings from Kumho for cheaper in the UHP class.

for some of us southerners down here maxxis is what fellas think is a great mud tire....

however Maxxis buckshots SUCK! as they wear quickly and they don't have the same characteristics as the true buckshot which is a MUCH BETTER mudder.

As for the other new brand out there... Maxxis, i would go with the maxxis bighorn. As for another choice of mudder. Go with a reliable TSL radial that is excellent in the mud as well as good on the street but not great on the street.
