I seem to remember that this was deemed a very good oil several years ago on BITOG. What is the verdict on the latest formulation? I did a search, but didn't find much. Walmart has it for $21 for 5 qt jug. Is this still a great oil? How's it compare to Q Horsepower, or PP?

Yeah, I don't know. Used to say was ACEA A3, but some new bottles didn't and a couple folks called Valvoline and were told that even though its not marked, it still meets ACEA A3.

I have about 60-70 bottles of the older formulation spanning production years 2004-2008. I think it's killer oil, about the best you can get next to Amsoil PAO and Redline.

I scored a 5 quart jug of 10w30 at my local WM for $9. I haven't used it yet, but it's up next in another 1500 miles for my Taurus. Figured it would make a nice Summer oil.

Except for my 93 Jimmy with the remote oil lines, on which the seal swell effect did it's job, which now leak. I have had to go back to non-HM oil on this vehicle.

The Remote oil lines on those leak regardless. I've replaced them 3 times in the 225,000 miles we've had our 98 Blazer. They leak at the stupid metal fittings. The last time I just hacked the fittings off and used regular oil line from Napa and clamped it on the metal with spring clamps.

you are so right, Ive only got 30k miles on mine and it started to leak at the lines 1 month after factory warranty ended at 28k miles. I may fabricate something myself, you mind takin a pic of what you did!

You are so right! I have yet to see full synthetic Maxlife and wish I could find it for my Chicago winters.

after reading your reply again, I think I understand what you said. You cut the fitting part with the crimpped fins and used regular Napa rubber to hose clamp onto the remaining metal studs?

I just got 4 red jugs of Maxlife synth 10W30 on sale for $17.50. It's one of the few oils that meets A3/B3, BMW LL98 and BMW LL01 - very robust oil. I'm not sure about the newer formulation.

Thats what I'm using in my explorer. I'm going to pick more up if i can get a good deal, otherwise its PP.

I just picked up the last 3 jugs of the full synthetic 5w30 at my walmart for $9 each. Called my mom in another city and told her to check her walmart for me too.

LOL I saw one, single solitary bottle of ML synthetic 5w30 at a Wal-Mart I farther North of me yesterday...

I wish I could find it around here. No one carries it and NAPA want's some ungodly amount of money to order it. Guess I'll stick with the Semi Syn.

I wish is was more generally available. I'm wondering if that store carries it and they were just sold out of the jugs. I also noticed that the 5w30 full syn met the ACEA A3 spec...

Use Maxlife synthetic in the VW and really like it. Unfortunately Chinamart here doesn't carry Maxlife synthetic anymore. I picked up the last 5 quart jug 2 years ago and haven't seen it restocked since. I believe AAP used to carry it but might have been cleared out by now. If they still carry it though it's probably $5 bucks a quart.

Saw them fully stocked at a WM in Canton, OH a few weeks back. They also had plenty of the ammo I shoot for super-cheap, which is rare down here in TX. Guess I should have gotten some :)
