Police injured and arrests made as thousands ‘celebrate’ death of Thatcher all over British Isles

Margret Thatcher was not that popular with the poor nor the Gaelic folks (among a long list of people who hated what she did and stood for) it seems…..

At least one Thatcher foe has refused to join the celebrants...

1970's British punk rocker 'Johnny Rotten' condemns hate mobs celebrating Thatcher's death

Quote:
'I was her enemy in her life but I will not be her enemy in her death.'

That is a great quote and I will remember that. Once somebody is dead there is no point to hating them anymore.

And I think Thatcher was a great leader for England.

What is interesting about Thatcher is how she achieved great things in so many areas but how in those same areas there are some black marks.

Foreign Policy: helping to end the Cold War. The Russians and Eastern Europeans love her for helping them achieve freedom. Yet she wasn't tough on South Africa when it came to freedom and overlooked Pinochets record.

Economic Policy: championed free markets to stop decline but the size of govt increased! More importantly though, a lack of empathy with those who had lived under socialism and had to quickly adjust is the reason for the division she still inspires. If she had had empathy, she might have been able to apply the necessary medicine and provide a softer landing.

May she rest in peace, and may the light of God's love shine upon her now and always. My prayers are for her family who grieve and those in her nation who mourn her passing. My prayers are also with those who don't understand that now is a time to put political differences aside out of respect that a human being has died and loved ones are dealing with her death.

Respect to Johnny Rotten. As Charles the 5th said at the grave of Martin Luther, "My war is with the living, not with the dead."

It takes some real internal hatred to keep hating somebody after they are dead. And someday we will all be dead. We are all travelling the same trail in the end.

Rich or poor, you will walk that path. The fancy house you live in will be lived in by somebody else, and the fancy car you drive will be driven by somebody else. I remember this woman at work who would not retire and finally she died in her 70s and she never had a day of retirement. After her death her brother was driving one of her two Mercedes and I don't know who got her house and her rental houses.

Some people hate beyond belief in this world today. All of that hatred is like a poison in your system. It can eat you up. Let it go already.

I am very certain that Thatcher will be an important historical figure. That is a certainty, no matter what kind of hatred is directed at her. Historians someday will write accurate histories once we are all beyond the current agendas.

I am too old for all of that silly hatred. I would rather be happy in life.

Sincere apologies.
There was a post from sprintman, I recalled the post was from Down under, and from a member beginning with S
I guess, in my haste, I assumed it was you, as sprintman has not been around for awhile.

Again, sorry.
I should double check before I add a quote.

No probs, I was subscribing to the "if you can't say sometghing nice" philosophy in this thread anyway.
