Springfield Mass is in the rust belt. Maybe they didnt use salt back then. Maybe by the time salt started being used, he was garaging it.

Ironically Springfield Mass is like a Detroit. Abandoned mills, poverty.

Very cool, in a day and age where most drive a car for a couple years and get rid of it. My Dad does have a VW Bug Convertable that has been in the family for 50 yrs though haha.

102 wow, gotta be jeolous of that. Nice full life it seems. Very cool indeed.

Pretty neat though he doesn't look like he could handle the manual steering or brakes. But who knows. Bet he drives (drove) better than a texting tween.

Enviable to live to be over 100. It is neat that he also drove the same car his entire life. Think about the fact the he kept and drove the same car about as long as the average human lifespan. I like stories that stir the imagination.

Amazing, no doubt about it.
Although I am sure he was meticulous, the term "They don't build them like they used to" applies here. He could just not drive something like a Cobalt for 78 years, its just not happening.

Amazing story. It should have been mentioned in the article what he drove/owned in addition to the Rolls during that time period. If he ONLY drove the Rolls the whole time he owned it, that would make him one of the most eccentric (and low miles) car owners of all time!

The family must have been at least somewhat wealthy. With enough money you could keep any car, even a Cobalt (LOL), going for as long as you wanted to keep it.

I wonder how many people knew RR were once built in the USA? I didn't.

LOL... Hahahahaha. Thanks for the mental picture.
Very impressive story, sounds like Swift was a great man. You can tell a lot about a man by how he treats his car.
