Magguts has a new +2 round magazine extension for the M&P shield 9mm. This kit converts only genuine factory mags from a 7 round to a 9 round or the 8 round to 10 rounds with a new spring and follower kit as well as a new floor plate and small extension making the magazine 0.25 inches longer.

I am including pictures someone took of them installed already with both magazines. The two pictures with the red trigger are the flush and extended magazine converted and the last picture is the flush mag converted from the website.

I don't see how it's bulky, it's already extremely thin pistol and flush mag is a barely 2 finger grip and the extended magazine is in barely 3 finger grip.

I am interested in one kit for the extended magazine but I like my flush mag for pocket carry. When I do carry IWB I usually use the extended magazine.

Al, if you feel competent enough to carry a weapon for self-defense it shouldn't matter if it holds 6 or 15 rounds. You're super cautious but it seems maybe at some point a stun gun or pepper spray might be a better choice. You can miss just as bad with 1 shot as 10.

So you need more than 6 shots to defend yourself from a knife wielder?
The guy in MN was a professional competition shooter and cop. He needed more than six to get the job done. No reason to think I'm any more capable than him. The way handguns work is the person being shot usually decides when it's over.

As far as mag guts go, I dont own any mags with those installed.

If I did, I would extensively test them to make sure they work. At least a couple hundred rounds from that magazine. Since I haven't tried them or tested them, I really have no opinion of them. If they work, great.

So instead I carry extra magazines.

Years ago I was comfortable leaving the house with a 5 shot snub nose revolver, with no reload. Then I added a speed strip reload. And then two speed strip reloads.

Lately, I've been rocking a Glock 43 9MM. At first I carried one spare 6 rd magazine. Now I carry two spare 6 rd magazines. That's 18 rounds in the magazines plus 1 in the chamber. 19 rounds on my person SHOULD get me out of a bind. Should.

The most important reason to carry a spare magazine, is not for the additional round capacity, but for malfunctions. The quickest way to get a jammed gun back in action is drop the magazine, fix the jam, and replace the magazine with your spare. So if you are carrying a semi-auto, you SHOULD be carrying at least one spare mag in case of malfunctions.

Also, when I added an additional magazine, I never really noticed it was there. It didn't cause me any headaches, wasn't heavy, wasn't a factor. So basically, if it doesn't bother you, and you dont really know its there, why not carry it?

The video replays portions over and over for some reason. 3:30 is around where he gets taken out.

I'm surprised some people didn't start protesting because he had a few rounds put in him while walking backwards. He actually deserved a couple rounds to the head while on the ground. Did this guy end up living?

The point of the mag guts is to maximize space. Many of us are already so loaded down with our edc items extra magazines take up precious space. I've got a knife, pepper oc spray, flashlight a Leatherman, keys, and a wallet already.

The magguts would be beneficial if this was used for a a backup gun and you only had one magazine, or like many people I've talked to they carry only one extra magazine for their primary, myself included most of the time. Sometimes I toss an extra one in my pocket if I'm wearing the right pants
