That TV character was a bum.
Once during an emergency when the vehicle he needed to use to rescue the damsel in distress was low on oil, he added cheap oil to the vehicle. And we all know how devastating that can be to the vehicles health.

This show is sooooooooooo cheesy. And a lot of it has me rolling my eyes. But it's entertaining to watch.
Watched one last night on nexflix where they had a S10 blazer, XJ Cherokee, Taurus, Celebrity for some sort of hike where there were escaped prisoners. The cars were neat back then I guess.

It would be a home run for some search engine trying to dethrone bing or google to be in macgyver's smart phone for the "money shot" every episode.
He'd have to fix something with just his wits in one act, just his phone in another, and by cooperating with another party in a third.
For a spin, have him break his phone. Like when the Dukes Of Hazzard had their car in the shop and had to drive something slower.
