M1 or PU?

I dont think so. One is as good as the other. Your comparing two Premium motor oils. The difference is just hair splitting.

Yes, PU keeps your pistons 25% cleaner than mobil 1....

+1

Once you get above a certain level, it's all about your specific car, and the only way to tell is tons of miles and oil analysis.

Different manufacturers so yeah, they are different. One guarantees 10k, one claims shinier pistons. One costs more than the other. Without a year, make, model, engine size, miles, mechanical condition and length of OCI your doing I'm sorry but that's the best answer I can give you.

Uhhhh why so short???

Seems like you're wasting your money to me. A Shell rep told me all the ins and outs of PU. She had some good claims, but honestly, im going to wait a while and stick with M1, PU just does not seem track proven yet. (Dont mention the Ferarri thing)

The wife does mostly short trips no more than 10 miles daily. Would it hurt to switch back to conventional?

Opinion: At a 3-5k interval go with the cheapest synthetic you can find. Expanding to 7k Its a tie between PU and M1. Beyond 7k I would go with M1 because of the extended mile warranty.

Are we talking about a once a year oil change? If so stay with what your doing.

It's cleaned up my 2000 Corolla quite nicely over the last 1600 miles. Had the vvt-i tick and clogged return holes; now, no tick, I can feel then vvt-i kicks in, and hasn't burned a drop in 600 miles.

Neither; with that OCI switch to a good conventional or synthetic blend. Using a synthetic for such a short OCI is a waste of $$$$

how about valvoline synpower? excellent wear numbers and valvoline is a great company. of the two you picked i would probably say mobil 1 based on long term results.
