Latest run in the PT.
Noteworthy:
1)consumption over a ~7k OCI is WAY down after installation of PCV trap
2)All my cars show high Si, I think its just the dust around here. The Si is down in this one, maybe because re-worked the PCV make-up air filter too. I got rid of the foam block on the "dirty" side of the airbox and added an oiled-cloth breather filter inside the airbox.
3) Looks like M1 0w30 AFE holds TBN rather well, even though it doesn't start out at a real high value.

Good UOA. I seem to be noticing the last few M1 UOAs I've seen have higher ZDDP, calcium, and molybdenum than they were in recent years. The competition is tough these days.

Good for us consumers!!

Yeah I've noticed that as well. More molybdenum. Could be a GF-5 formula?

Consumers have a lot of good choices.

M1 5-30 and 5-30EP are 1000 zinc or better and 100+ with Moly.

Not measurably, but then I didn't expect it to. PTs aren't known for stellar fuel economy anyway, and I doubt that friction in the engine is anywhere close to air drag friction when it comes to what dominates the car's overall mileage.

Excellent reduction in consumption with your corrective engineering of the PCV system. You have a 1 cSt slide in visc, but the flash point is great. Fuel residuals are being flashed off.

Nothing much to complain about. Looks like you could stretch it out a bit. I'd say 10k would not be unreasonable.

The added add levels are to make sure there are no future mishaps with the grunt blender putting his thumb on the scale to show better facility utilization numbers ..and having the competition testing the stuff.

Gary: I knew you'd like the proof of the PCV fix ;-)

Looking at the UOA trends, the first one was all city driving and consumption was low. The 2nd one had more highway and much higher consumption and set my alarm bells off (admittedly, 1/2 quart was also due to a filter change halfway thru the run.) I put the PCV trap in during that run. The current run had 3 highway trips of >1000 miles each on it, and STILL only showed 1/2 quart total consumption- HUGE improvement. I also replaced the shrunken and ineffective PCV make-up air foam block filter (which no longer even covered the inlet hole!) with an oiled cotton breather filter. Seems to have helped with the Si, though that could just be the wetter weather keeping the dust down since last fall when this OCI started.

FWIW- that fill is still in the engine and now nudging up against 9000 miles (I dawdled for 6 weeks before actually sending in the sample.) I'll probably change it this weekend.

It did in my Jaguar X-type. I had been using 5-40 TDT. I am able to get over 400 miles per tank every time now. I noticed the increase right away. At least 20-30 miles per tank.

But, you must remember that the TDT is a more viscous oil when compared to 0-30.

He said he used make-up oil.

This factor affects what you perceive as "TBN retention".

Oil 101.

TBN at 2.9 on a 6000mi oci with make-up oil is far from a "great oil". Havoline dino has shown equal or better results.

Total make-up oil added was only 1/2 quart out of 5. Not much.

TBN isn't everything, and this particular oil doesn't start out with an HDEO-like TBN either. Its not intended as an ultra-long-interval oil. For what it is at 6k miles, its doing great, and doing great without an excessive dose of additives that compete with detergents and VMs in the additive package.

Like I said, just as good as any $2 dino oil.

Since it's not offering anything special in the way of cold flow, I don't see what the attraction is.
