Researching oil options for when I dump the FF on my new Accord. The car specs 0w-20. I was looking at Walmart today and noticed that all of the 0w-20 Mobil oils are "Advanced Fuel Economy" with the green label. Is there 'regular' 0w-20 or is the AFE the only option?

I know either one will be great for my application, just wondering if there are different options.

Also, all Mobil is on rollback at walmart! $22 for 5qt jug.

On a side note, there are other highly regarded 0W-20 oils. Mobil 1 has the benefit of amazing brand recognition and it certainly has the crankcase cred to back it up. However, if you ask a "regular joe" to identify 2 or 3 other synthetic product lines from other mfg, you will get a blank stare.

Mobil 1 is a great value, but it is not the only good choice.

No it's not.
Most M1 grades have good reputations for different reasons, and the long drain EP oils aren't available in a 0W-20 grade.

That's the only one mobil makes. However, there are several other brands of 0w20 that's as good or better.
Kendall, Pennzoil, Amsoil, Redline, Motul, etc.

I have personally used Kendall and Amsoil.

Unfortunately when it comes to making the claim "as good or better." It would be really tough to prove one way or the other for any of the products you mentioned. They're all good.

How do you know they are better? Many 100s of Ks of using these oils in your engines, long OCIs, many years of experience?

By Mobil's own admission their own EP line is "better"

What is the difference between Mobil 1™ Extended Performance and Mobil 1?

Mobil 1 Extended Performance has an even more robust formula that has been proven in extensive field tests to help protect critical engine parts for 15,000 miles between oil changes. Guaranteed. We’ve selected specific synthetic components to deliver this outstanding level of performance.

If they are able to do it in their own product line, not a stretch to believe another formulator couldn't.

Amsoil is marketed as long drain oil; M1 0w20 is not.

M1 0-20 does carry the 10K(miles) or the max OLM rating(if it has one) for engines under warranty. If it's 7K or 15K for one year. Out of warranty: I do 10K OCIs with 0-20 without a problem.

Thanks for all of the replies and suggestions. I am still contemplating on what I want my next oil change to be. I realize there are other options out there as I just put PP in my wife's Altima and really like it so far...engine is smooth and quiet.

My Accord is already as smooth as glass so not sure if any oil will make a difference, but just noticed that it was on rollback at Walmart. $22 for a 5 is not a bad deal.

Whatever wm has on rollback should work fine for you. PP and M1 are on par in my opinion and I'd have no problem running either for a 10000 mile interval in a engine I don't beat on.
Castrol syntec goes on rollback as well and I'm sure it would work fine as well however I'm not as confident in it as I am the M1 or PP.
buy whatever is on sale that meets your spec whether its SN or SM. You should be fine.

Not that I have anything against M1, but if you ever catch a NAPA syn sale, you can get their house brand 0W-20 for around $3.50 a quart. It's produced by the same people who make Valvoline. The 0W-20 looks almost identical to Synpower 0W-20. It's definitely a bargain when it's on sale.

Being a new car I'm surprised you haven't mentioned the OEM Honda 0W-20 which is actually more suitable than M1 0W-20.
Also long drains are not something you'd want to consider while under warranty.
The other Japanese OEM 0W-20 oils such as the Mobil made TGMO 0W-20 and the new Mazda High Moly 0W-20 I would choose over M1 price notwithstanding.
