Perhaps use of the sixth slot (a sixth heat sink tab) would be necessary for wattages above 150?
Perhaps it's a product adaptable for international trade and the sixth slot is used with other voltage or cycles/second (50 vs, 60)?

I really do not think cost was a consideration for going with five instead of six. Besides, more heat sink is better.
If no one knows, I will call Lutron and hopefully talk to somebody who can do more than read a script.

Hmmm? For some unknown reason, it appears the dimmers with the red or burgundy colored switch come with the sixth heat sink tab intact.
