I never hear anyone mention Lucas motor oil. Do you have opinions on it? I've never used Lucas Motor oil, but I am using Lucas power steering fluid with good results.

General concensus is that their products are junk.
Lucas Power Steering Fluid is doing good for me. I've been using it 8 years. So far so good.

If I had a do over, I'd buy Swepco power steering fluid, but Lucas is doing fine. Lucas quieted my power steering compared to the old OEM oil. I don't have any complaints.

I use their brake fluid and it’s fine. I also revived a tranny on an old ford years ago that lasted till I sold it, which was several years. But I wouldn’t touch their oil thickening goo.

nothing wrong with it just isn't priced friendly or regularly available in brick and mortar stores. That's the odd thing. Lucas products are available in a few brick-and-morter autostores locally. Probably because I'm on West Coast and so is Lucas. It was easy local availability that caused me to start using Lucas instead of Swepco.

Back in the day, I had a Jeep with big tires that needed a power steering upgrade. I upgraded steering gearbox and put a smaller (faster) pully on my stock pump. I did those things using Power Steering Components (PSC) parts and followed their instructions.

PSC instructions said to flush and replace power steering fluid with Swepco power steering fluid because it's the best (in their opinion). Swepco was not available locally and I didn't have time to wait for Swepco to be shipped.

PSC support staff told me that (in their opinion) Lucas Power Steering Fluid is the 2nd best (after Swepco). They said Lucas would work for my upgraded power steering.

Lucas power steering fluid worked fine for all the years I owned the Jeep.

When my Buick power steering pump started moaning, I flushed out the original OEM power steering fluid and replaced with Lucas. Then much less moaning and it's been working well for years.

I have used their 75w-140 diff lube sometime back and it served me well. So it may be more of a regional sales pitch. I’ve seen Lucas oil at a few local 7-11s they may have some contractual deal

Many guys in wet West Coast areas like Lucas Red Grease for vehicles, especially in wet and/or muddy conditions. It's also widely popular for logging equipment (in our rain forest conditions) in OR & WA. My Jeep club and local tire store alignment technician both recommend it for use in very wet conditions.

So I think some Lucas products are good. At least the two I'm familiar with that are locally and regionally popular and available in local brick-and-morter stores seem to be good. The Lucas power steering fluid and red grease.

I've tried Lucas, Shell, and Chevron fuel treatments. I didn't notice any effects from any of them, but I probably didn't need any fuel additives. Likely all brands of fuel additives are a waste of money.

I'm leery of all brands of oil additives and don't use them. Though I am going to make an exception and try Blue Devil Oil Stop Leak.

Brake fluid... Does brand matter?

Lucas Motor Oil is overpriced from what I see online. Beyond that I have no experience with it. I assume it's OK, but nothing special. Interestingly Lucas motor oil is not available in my local brick-n-morter stores.

Lucas Diff Oil is overpriced from what I see online. Beyond that I have no experience with it. I assume it's OK, but nothing special. Interestingly Lucas diff oil is not available in my local brick-n-morter stores.

Seems like maybe my local autostores (and even Walmart) actually use some judgement about the automotive products they carry. I'm pleasantly surprised.

I would have thought marine grease would be favored in very wet conditions due to washout.
I would have thought that too, but the Lucas Red Grease is very popular in my wet (fresh water, not salt water) area. I'm 60 miles inland in a rain forest. I don't know what's popular at the coast in salt water areas.

The only thing not liked is their oil thickener with no additives. Their regular motor oils are good, their grease is good and their 2 stroke oil is FD rated. It's very good too.
I don't like any brand of oil thickener.

How was it? Good? Good enough?

was hoping for it to silence my diff, yes it did by a little, but it was noticable help.
I mixed 80W90 with 85W140. By end of 2025 will be running Lucas 75W-140 exclusively.

Overpriced.
No argument there, if we're talking motor oil or diff oil.

The power steering fluid seems reasonably priced for what it is. I think the PS fluid is above average quality. Likewise the red grease I'm liking, especially for wet climates.

Due to their slimy "oil stabilizer" scam, I wouldn't use their products if you paid me. Plenty of other options out there from companies that don't intentionally set out to rip people off by selling them the cheapest crap out the distillation tower loaded with the cheapest VII polymer and no additives.
