You make a good point on the turbine oil tempest. Think I'll start over and reserve this stuff for my Mototcycle Chain. Thanks.

Has almost no AW additives is what I meant.

The only reason I can think of to use it in a gun oil is as pour point depressant. No way I'd use it on a chain.

"Operating Temperature" of WS? I put little faith in these types of things. I've seen a few oils that say they are good up to 750F+ which is just nuts.

Well I'm pretty easy on my bike and put almost no miles on it. I clean and oil the chain almost every time I use ii. The chain has not "loosened" one iota in 3200 miles. I understand what you are saying though Tempest.

I have a bottle that has a very thin tip used for oiling model trains. Its almost a hypodermic needle. I use it on my Colt 1911 A1. I was just using the assembly lube in the tiniest amounts on the rails, barrel bushing, barrel wear areas, and slide stop. Its pretty easy to identify the dozen places that wear occurs. So now I will just use the mixture of assembly lube and Mobil1 75W-90.

I was using Militec Grease on those areas but I'll stick to the mixture here.

Yeah, 750f is ridiculous, but I was thinking more on the low side, with december approaching fast. My weapon is carried openly (duty use), and may be exposed to outdoor temps away from the body an hour or longer at a time. I know breakfree was rated at -65f, remember seeing -84 for ws?

Concern9ng FP-10 vs Break Free. One lubes better, the other protects (rust) better. Which is which?

FP-10 has considerable amounts of CP which will lube very well.
BF has a very effective inhibitor system, but will not lube as well (not that it will kill a gun).

turbodieselfreak, I think WS had a pour point of -60F, but I don't recall the exact number. If you are in temps like that, it's better to stay inside anyway.

O.K. thanks. Oh-by strange coincidence I went to the range today. Pistol is my M 1911 A1 (1944 Remington). In my 2nd to last round of the mag, it spit out the casing and the last unfired cartridge.

...go figure. I asked the question on the 1911 board and they felt it was the recoil spring or the mag. I suspect the mag bc I hadn't used it with that revolver. But I will replace the recoil spring tomorrow.

For the time being it just lost its place on the night stand.

Yea..thanks. I have placed the offender to the side. I did notice that the loop on the spring (below the follower) was more bent "upward" than my other mags.

I am just using the regular colt mags (which I know are junk). Guess I'll go to the shop tomorrow and buy a new recoil spring and a wilson mag. I understand that some 1911's don't like this mag but surely it will work in one of my 3. :)

And I think until further notice I will just use the two mags that came with my Commander.

mag on a revolver ?

Good thread guys, I need to come up with something to smooth up CZ452 actions.

Mine is silky (because it's as old as me), but the rest of them in the club have a bricks on pavers grind.
