It is believed by some on here that the PAO's (i.e., Amsoil 10W-30) generate significantly less engine sludge/varnish, even over an extended OCI. If true, why not use a reduced amount of LC in the crankcase?

For example, I think the indicated mix in a 4+ qt. engine is approx. 4 oz. LC at the initial oil & filter change, then add 1 oz. each successive 1K mile interval.

Would it be sufficient to put, say, 1 oz. in every 1K miles and skip the initial 4 oz.? or, perhaps some other reduced level?

Initial treatment amounts are usually 2oz per qrt of oil and then 1 to 3oz every 1000 miles.

Because in these amounts LC is primarily reducing oil oxidation and doing some minor cleaning.

Another way to clean engine quickly is to use 16 oz. of LC as an engine flush before you change oil.

Wouldn’t adding LC change the viscosity of the oil? By how much would 1oz per quart affect the viscosity?

Wrangler, I'm not MolaKule but the LC when used as directed does NOT affect viscosity except to stabilize the oxidation rate reducing thickening and shear.

The proprietary ingredients I like to call BALL BUSTING SOLVENTS give it that ROCKET/TORPEDO FUEL smell.

There's a couple Great GC reports with LC looks like it's still a good idea there too.

I guess I should order mine soon huh?

Thanks Terry,

I just started using it. We will see how it does when mixed with Amsoil's 0W30.

Thanks all, including Molecule, Terry. With regards to my vehicles, both are fairly new, so I don't think there is much to clean, and I thought it would be frugal to use as little LC as possible, but perhaps I would be losing some of the benefits.

Wrangler - I think MolaKule answered this very question for me on another post, and I think he said LC had a summer weight of "25." But I couldn't find my post, so I'm not sure of that.

LC work wonders for controlling oxidation in the Amsoil TSO 0w-30.

To all, Whether you use my services or anothers please use analysis to fine tune the application.

We tested LC's viscosity at SAE 20w, 6.6 cSt @100c, multiple labs, different bottles.

I thought I posted that data in the VOA's a year and a half ago.

Wrangler,

LC in the treatment rates given will not affect the oil's viscosity.

The odor is one of Apricots.

You take the Apricot seeds and crush them for the oil and.... Just joshing!
