Since this product is prescribed to be added at regular intervals, does it have high enough volatility that the oil level doesn't rise as it keeps getting added? Or do you have to anticipate the rise by starting the OCI with the oil level below maximum?

Good question.

I usually start with (oil+LC20=fullsump) and let the consumption of oil over the mileage take care of it. HOWEVER, my '95 Civic uses zero oil and so it does tend to get a little high on the dipstick toward changing time but it's still within (my???) tolerance, about a half-pint to a pint over at 8,000 miles. I add 1.5 to 2 ounces of LC20 per 1,000 miles or so.

The short answer- I don't worry about it.

IIRC,the literature that came with my order stated the LC 20 was gone in 800 miles, guess not, or maybe carbon deposits supposedly that turn into graphite keeps it high?

I used it my wifes' ride. It is an 04 Impala with the 3800 series GM motor. History was that it never used any oil in 4k oil change intervals. I added 4 fluid ounces to a topped off oil fill. At 1500 miles, noticed that the oil level was about 1/2 quart low. Added another 4 fluid ounces of LC20 and enough top off oil to bring the the level back up to full. Less than 1000 miles later the sump was down close to a quart.

Stopped using LC 20 at this point. On subsequent oil change intervals, I have experienced no need to top off oil over 4000 mile oil change intervals. In fact it has remained right at the full line ever since.

IMO, LC 20 somewhat volatilizes over the coarse of an oil change interval. May be even takes some of the host oil with it.
