Just bought a El Cheapo Central Pheumatic 4.5 HP 21 gal vertical air compressor for $170 at Harbor Freight. The compressor manual calls for a "high grade non detergent 30 weight oil." I went down to the corner quickie mart and got some Golden something oil figuring I can get something else later. I was wondering if Lube Control would be beneficial in this application.

I don't think it woulde damage anything Vader, since there is no combustion or equivalent combustion temps to oxidize the oil.

The main concern is rust protection and emulsification. A half oz. of LC would certainly help in both areas.

Thanks. The rust protection was the thing I was thinking about. Tried 1/2 oz. and immedietely got some bubbles/froth in the oil window which went away after a few minutes of running.

Vader Odis has used LC in Compressors for 30 + years and with great success. Give him a jingle at 972 221 1343 and he can fine tune the level for you. 1/2 ounce is probably a good starting point.

I know it has been used for years rotary screw and scrolling compressors before synthetics were easily available with excellent results. So your more traditional application is easy for LC to help.
