40k mile service on a Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0L turbo direct injected. VW 502.00. The owner is light on cash and I am scanning the internet to stock up on low cost parts for this service coming up in a couple months. I am starting with oil and will eventually move onto the filter/ transmission fluid/filter, spark plugs etc. I am interested in saving as much money as possible but without any compromise that may be harmful. 10k mile interval. Right off the bat I won't buy Castrol products as I have a personal grudge as I also have with Ford but that's another story. So?
I initially changed the oil and spared no expense and footed the bill myself. Since I will be spending a few hundred dollars this time around with the transmission fluid/filter/gasket, spark plugs, differentials oil change and Haldex filter/oil change I am going to make the owner share the burden.

I buy a 6 pack at Costco when it goes on sale. I think it's $38.99 regularly and every other month it seems to be $10 off.

Odd you would post that picture, but maybe that's just me.

It's her car and shows the mindset i have to work with at home.

Mobil 1 0w40

$12 rebate and $5 Walmart in-store coupon = best deal. Both are available on Mobil 1 website under promotions section.

Only in Canada I believe. There is a list of about 5 or 6 stores in the US but they are all off brand stores for the most part. I live in the Cleveland, Ohio area and using their locate a dealer eligible for the rebate it shows NONE.

I didn't remove it, moderator did. Not sure why, I apologize if somehow it was offensive. I would also be curious so as I don't make the mistake again.

If those are Ir plugs don't bother with them -they will be fine. Really. Dont even look at them sideways.
That will save some bucks.

I'm looking at paying $14/L for real synthetic MOTUL 8100 VAG 508.00/509.00 Porsche C20
I don't like the bulk Castrol they put in my tiny turbo 1.4. I knew it had a nice sin in there and now there is a Sinner in there!

Just doesn't run right.

Original plugs, Bosch Double platinum I'm led to believe, so I may go back with iridium or ruthenium and make it the last/only plug change for 100k miles. That 508 spec is pricey indeed. I know that ravenol just introduced theirs.

Do not use any plugs but the OEM - should be about $10/ea on most Euro parts sites. Should be NGKs.

For oil, if you don't like Castrol, then M1 or whatever else you can find that is 502 at Walmart - Penzoil I suppose. There really isn't much difference in base price of the big-name Euro-blend 502s, whatever is on sale. Considering the most expensive all-in-one change kits online are ~$60 and have Liquimoly, we are only talking about saving ~$20.

They are NGK Laser Platinum (double platinum). Iridium such as NGK BKR7EIX do work according to my butt dyno, but doesn't last that long, about 20,000 miles, before mpg takes a hit (I am on APR Stage 1 also). NGK Ruthenium, you'll have to adjust the gap down to .8mm.

I just got NGK Iridium Tough, VK-22 from the UK, which is equivalent to a NGK Laser Iridium type plug (which there is no NGK laser iridium plug for the 2.0TSI)
