Low cost sedan looks better than expensive one

I don't really like the looks of Mazda cars. I also am not a big fan of the new Camry. I love the look of the Avalon, Corolla looks good too.

Sonata is probably my favorite though.

I'd have to agree with OP, the current Mazda6 is one of the best looking sedans out there today. I like only the new Mercedes CLA line better (and they look better than the more expensive Benz). Hopefully Mazda has fixed their issues with suspension noises and improperly matched shocks. I had a first gen Mazda3 and currently a Mazda5 that have clunks. Motor mounts and strut mounts were replaced too.

Of course, since it's FWD, then putting in a powerful engine would result in inability to put that power to the ground, so they'd need to add AWD as well.

The price of a vehicle does influence its styling. The cheaper a car the less money for R&D and very little money for styling.

Looks at low cost compact cars, the ones that cost less than $15k-20k compares with the ones that cost $30-40k or more. I am sure $30-40k like BMW 2, 3 series and Audi A3 are much better styling. The exceptions are current Lexus.

Looks are subjective. But the explanation behind the Lexus design is to stand out. When you see it, you immediately know that it's a Lexus and the owner is wealthy.

That's what the message is.

You know it's a Lexus and the owner may or may not be wealthy. They may simply have good credit and convinced someone they could afford the lease payment.

I forget, are we talking about the Lexus owner, or my ex-wife

I really don't understand these threads that debate the subjective look of this car versus that car. Function over form for me. Looks rate way below performance, economy, comfort, reliability......and the list goes on.

oilBabe will not buy a car if she doesn't like the tail lights.

Personally, I can't see my tail lights while I'm behind the wheel. I might see them when I'm putting stuff in the trunk. But really.

But that's her thing, and it seems to drive the train when it comes to vehicle selection.

Different people buy vehicles based on different reasons/criteria.

May be so, but take a look at the sale of 2016 vs 2015 Prius.

2016 Prius mechanically are better than 2015 and MPG is better too for not much more $, sale decrease more than 15% compares with 2015.

Now, 2016 vs 2015 Chevy Volt. 2016 Volt is better than 2015 every way, mechanically and styling and sale went up more than 50%.

If everyone buying their cars with functional as top criteria then 2016 Prius should sale more than 2015.

2015 Prius ? I don't know if any dealer has any 2015 Prius left.

For 2016 Prius, Toyota has $2,000 rebate which they never had on Prius before.
