Exactly. These "recyclers" are the same people who break into closed schools and foreclosed homes to strip them of wiring and metal, and leave them vulnerable to quick deterioration because the weather gets in them where the aluminum window frames were stolen. Unfortunately, after that happens it almost always results in the demolition of said buildings. Look how fast Cass Tech and Jane Cooper schools in Detroit turned into bombed-out shells after they closed.

Or maybe LT4Vette thinks they're just disgruntled parents from those school districts?

So basically the liquidation company will have less money to pay the lawyers who are liquidating the assets.

Because even if the debts are not paid, not to mention the bond holders and share holders, I'm pretty sure the lawyers see to it that they get their portion of what's left for the service of liquidating the assets GM left for liquidation.

I freely admit that your hard-earned tax dollars are flowing through the Washington DC area like crack through the veins of an addict.

LS2JSTS,

Money spent rebuilding New Orleans and its surround areas destroyed by Hurricane Katrina is much more important than bailing out a pathetic company like GM. Helping out these unfortunate fellow Americans in Louisiana is the right thing to do, I'm guessing human life is alot important that some silly car manufacturer/greedy union that makes cars/trucks/SUV's.

As for my comment about manufacturing in Michigan, there will be zero manufacturing in the very near future if that 'Good Ole Boy' 1950's mentality continues.

But there is some good news for the state of Michigan:
Forbes magazine ranked Detroit and Flint in the top 5 of The Most Miserable Cities in America.
Cleveland, Ohio had the honor and privilege of being # 1 on that list. No wonder why Lebron James packed his bags and left.

Please educate me on how we can keep jobs in America and prevent unions from destroying our country.

all the other countries subsidize their industries.
I guess they recognize the value of not having another country pull the rug out from under them. Of course they also have national health which also unburdens companies.
Not to mention the new jobs were non UAW.

Apparently you didnt read what I wrote....Katrina is the tip of the iceberg in the bigger picture. There was one before it, and there will be many after it. But WE ALL get to bear the cost of your CHOICE to live in that region. I never said it wasn't the right thing to do...I was pointing out that it IS what we do here in the USA...While we pile money into those regions year after year, 100's of billions of dollars....You still have to whine and cry about a LOAN of 60 billion dollars to a company that employs thousands.

You never answered my question...When did Michigan EVER require a gift of hundreds of billions to repeat the same mistake again and wait for the next storm to come along?

Katrina doesn't exist in a vacuum, shall I list all the storms we've paid for as citizens?

And that is how you would paraphrase the "mentality" surrounding the industry right now? It's clear you have zero knowledge of the current labor relations or insite into the industry in general.

What label would you give to someone living in 2010 and their mentality is stuck in the late 70's-80's? Maybe, "Disco Boy Mentality" or "Mullet Boy Mentality"

It wasn't the UAW that created the mess at GM...it was the Executive [censored] that agreed to the union contracts all those years...not to mention the lord of the bean counters that decided to spec cheap nasty parts and design as well...

It is clear that the real downfall of GM was at the hands of the Ivory Tower crowd that walked away with huge golden parachutes and pensions for actually destroying the company all these years...

As for the copper theft..yep all drug dealer gang members who I'm sure never paid a dime of tax in their lives, likely have lived off the tax payers dime for years and are hugely responsible for the decay of Detroit, Flint and other cities there in MI.
