I cannot handle it anymore. I have jock-itch and it is horrible. I have never felt the intense itching that I have felt over the past couple of weeks.

I am looking for some ideas on what is the best cure to get rid of this scourge.

Browsing at the drug store there are half a dozen different tubes of jock itch creams and aerosol sprays, all with different active ingredients to kill the fungis (which as I understand is closely related to athlete's foot fungi).

Any ideas on what is the best stuff to knock this out? At almost 8 or 9 bucks for a tiny little tube, I don't want to buy multiple different products.

you really have to try them and see what works. I bought a little tube of something that works great, and some spray can stuff. just remember to still use it for a few days after the itch is gone, or the fungus comes back. 'there is fungus among us'- say it 3 times fast, it's funny.

LOL!

I am also going to look into a powder just to keep things dry in there as I think moist/dampness is something they thrive in. Also, I am going to change out bath towels after every use instead of every two-three days like now.

Good 'ol Corn Starch may help.

I googled that term and I didn't realize this afflicts some motorcycle riders. There is a product out there for everything!

Use this stuff http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10324784 yes its a feminine hygiene product but you can buy it in a large container that is cheap and it works. Its the same stuff that comes in Monistat FYI if you have any of that around the house. Second thing to do is use a powder if you like to help keep the area dry. I use both when I need too. I am paid to sit on my [censored] all day so I know the problem and the solution. Trust me it works and if it doesn't work for you maybe your better half can use it. Hands down its the best thing I have found.

Some of the jock itch medicines are exactly the same as the medicines for athlete's foot, only with a higher price tag. Save a buck or two and see if what you need is in the athlete's foot section.

The Monostat7 for yeast infection appeared to work the fastest for any fungus related issue for me. My podiatrist was hooked on Lotrimin for athlete's foot. I posed the following scenario.

I get athletes foot and you prescribe Lotrimin (whatever). I cross contaminate myself and get jock itch and another doctor prescribes Monoderm topical (or the Lotrimin equivalent). I then manage to cross infect my wife and another doctor prescribes/recommends the gynecological version of the very same fungicidal agent (probably truly a "stat") to treat the very same fungus that's incubated under like conditions.

she kind just laughed.

Anyway, the stuff for yeast infections may have other stuff in it aside from the Clotrimazole stuff. In any event, it provided the fastest relief and shortest duration of required use (as much as that SHOULD NOT be possible).

Now they are starting to say, "ask your PRESCIBER".

Gary see my post above. The equate brand at walmart is just as good as the monostat7 but is available in a 5oz tube I believe, plus it costs about half.

I chuckled at how that conversation went with the podiatrist.

I think the Equate version of the stuff that has Clotrimazole in it sounds like the ticket. And cheap too!

I used to get jock itch real bad, always went away with the use of Gold Bond. I quit wearing whity tighties and started wearing boxers about 10 years ago and never had a problem since, not once.

I always buy Miconazole cream its very easy to find at the Mart. Either should work great just don't get stuck looking for one if the other is available.

Quote:
Miconazole Cream is used for:

Treating athlete's foot, jock itch, or ringworm and relieving the itching, scaling, burning, and discomfort due to those conditions. It may be used to treat yeast infections of the skin or scaly patches on the skin caused by fungus. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Jock itch sucks, no two ways about it. Had it when I used to play lots of sports. Awful.

I think this board has now officially hit every male topic out there. We have run the gamut now. Topics about shaving, rocks in people's backyards, airport security, rental cars in Oahu, snow shoes, audio rip-offs, making your own beef jerky, F-18's for sale on ebay...now jock itch.
