Looking for a reliable .22 pistol

I have a Glock 44 that has been very reliable with anything I've fed it so far. I'd have to look at my notebook, but I believe I'm at about 3500 rounds through it.

this is what I have and LOVE it!!!!
Browning Buckmark

Just an FYI standard 22 ammo is subsonic from a pistol, at about 1000 feet per second. One needs to step up to higher powered ammo to reach supersonic velocities from a 22 pistol, or above about 1125 FPS.
This is a feature not a bug if you happen to have a suppressor.

A suppressed 22 pistol shooting subs might be the most fun that exists with a firearm. Either that or shooting suppressed long gun 22LR with subs on steel. Click-1...2...3...TING!

I dunno. I would put shooting .38Special out of a lever gun pretty close. It's like shooting .22LR only bigger and more expensive.

A Glock 44 would also potentially fit your requirements as a good all around .22LR plinker .
I can’t say that my 44 has been the most accurate or reliable. I tend to run the polymer coated bullets. I love them for my antique .45acp revolvers (M1917), and sometimes 9mm. But maybe they’re not the best bet… all the same, I feel like accuracy is not consistent.

This could be a unicorn, but I'm looking to find a good, reliable semi auto .22 pistol that can also function with subsonic ammo. The TX22 feels nice but I can see why some complain about the gritty trigger pull, wish it was smoother but not a deal breaker.

I have used a Buckmark, I remember a higher amount of gas discharge that I could smell when firing....may have been nothing but it shot well.

Is the Ruger Mk (pick your series) the best option? Seems whichever one I research there's always a group of owners who complain about FTF....I doubt you could limp wrist a .22 but never know. I'm open for all input.
I had a Ruger 22/45 Mark IV. It was nice and reliable, has a huge aftermarket support, but I hate the low capacity.

So then I had a Browning Buckmark Camper stainless UFX. I loved it a lot more than Ruger, despite it having little to no aftermarket support. But in stock form it has a very nice fit and finish, more comfortable, just as reliable as Ruger, but in the end still low capacity. Still I would take it over Ruger any day.

Currently I sold both and don't miss them. Replaced with a Keltec P17. Great capacity, utilitarian gun, just as reliable for me as Ruger and Browning once we're. I got seven 17rd magazines for it, and it makes for a fun plinking day. No regrets at all, and my buddy who has a TX-22 said he likes my P17 more for grip, size, weight. And P17 is $100 cheaper on average.

If I was, I'll go to the closest range and try the guns you consider.

I like the Glocks. I rented 44 once and shot about 100 rounds at the range, after I read several reviews on youtube that is not reliable and jams a lot.
The pistol didn't jammed a single time. It's very easy to shoot with it. You hit bull eye every other time with a zero recoil. I got bored shooting it after an hour.

He said he wanted to stay around 500 .

"Open to all options under $1k" must mean different things to us.

Sorry for the delay, I do want to be in the $500 range or less. I added the "all options under $1K" so others could still toss in some considerations and I would be happy to research them. Never know if someone has gone through my exact research and settled on something more expensive and being worth it.
