Are you suggesting bringing another jack on top of the tire changed that the car comes with?

I personally like to have my tire changing gear (that came with the vehicle is good enough), a ratchet set and a screwdriver with changeable bits.

If you actually need substantially more tools than that you're either going to not have the spare part required or will need to go to another place anyway so you can get other tools and whatnot.

I do usually carry a gallon of water on a trip, in case I was ever to loose coolant. But it doubles as drinking water at some point on the trip.

An extra qt of oil is good, but if you bust something bad enough to need to replace a lot of oil before you can get to a store, you have bigger issues.

Few year back we cruising , and my gas guard stuck at 1/4 , ran out off gas, lucky we have a guy in our crew carry some gas with him. from that way I alway carry a little bit of gas, but yea 2 gallon is little over kill.

and I seen a guy in our crew blow out the oil filter and lucky I carry an extra oil filter and we end up put all our oil together to made up the oil he lost. so yea from that day I alway carry an extra oil filter and at least 2 quart of oil

I should be ok, since we all going driving same type of cars, and we not going alone, about 15 peoples going on this trip.

And to think of the billions of trouble free miles at a hundred million drivers put on each year.

You have to be joking with all that stuff, but to each their own.

If you are travelling in a convoy with other mustang drivers I would bring more stuff! You want to be known as the helpful guy. Just don't go so valuable your stuff gets ripped off.

Look at bringing a 12V tire air pump and tire guage also. This saved us from emptying the trunk of baggage to put on the spare. We discovered the tire's slow leak at our rest stop inspection, a good idea for all travellers. We were able to locate a tire dealer not too far away and had the tire patched properly.

That is a good one. We keep a pencil type in the glovebox of each car for cases like this.

I personally find that a manual bike pump packs less intrusively along the rear edge of the trunk, and makes for a better option.

Unless your driving an old British car you don't really need to worry. All you need is a cell phone, AAA, and a Visa.

Oil? Why every gas station you stop at has it.

I do like bringing a good tire wrench, not the cheapo they include.

Other than that have fun!

With my diesels, I make sure that I've got a spare fuel filter behind that back seat. Got a CAV 296 that I'm about to install as a pre-filter, which should make that more bulletproof.

Make sure you have extra fuse for your 12-volt cigarette charger. I took a trip down to Atlanta (1800 miles total) and my electronics equipments (2 cellphones, GPS, and radar detector) burned through the fuse. It sucked big time. Fortunately, I was able to use my laptop as a charger for my phones and GPS while at the hotel each night and had full charge for the phones in the morning. The GPS was being charged by the laptop even in the car.

The fuse was only 1 dollar but I didn't know what broken at the time and I don't like playing mechanic while on the road. The car was 1992 Corolla with bad rear suspension but it rode great. I did fix the entire rear suspension on both side for $450 at a local shop; parts were $290 already. The trip would be more enjoyable now too.
