1. MarkC (cuz he's just cool and I like the way he rolls)
2. Neil Peart
3. John Bonham
4. Bill Bruford
5. Bill Ward
6. Charlie Watts (some of his jazz stuff is out of this world)
7. Lars Ulrich (annoying as [censored], but a great drummer)
8. Jeff Porcaro
9. Stewart Copeland
10. Alan White

honorable mention: (groan) Phil Collins

Vinnie Paul- Pantera
Joey Jordison- Slipknot
Chris Adler- Lamb of God
Brann Dailor- Mastodon
Lars Ulrich- Metallica
Dave Lombardo- Slayer

Some I like:

Dave Lombardo
Keith Moon
Simon Phillips
Neil Pert
John Bonham
Mike Portnoy (new fav drummer)

Edit:
I do like Lars' drumming. As well as Nicko McBrain and Clive Burr from Iron Maiden

The "Rock Out With Your [censored] Out" list:

Phil Rudd [AC/DC]
Johnny Fay [The Tragically Hip]
Animal [The Muppets]

Everyone else [although pretty much exclusively rock drummers]:

Simon Kurke [Bad Company] - I included him here because he plays drums *exactly* as I play air drums. I was a professional musician a lifetime ago for several years, and am capable on a kit, and this guy feels how beats feel, slightly in anticipation of or slightly behind the beat, his dynamics, everything, exactly like I hear drums in my head.
Neil Peart [Rush]
Ian Paice [Deep Purple]
John Bonham [Zep] - I included him solely because of the triplet feel he had on those little fills you only hear when you're really listening.
Mickey Hart & Bill Kreutzmann [Grateful Dead]
Stewart Copeland [The Police] - I hate The Police, but this guys kills it.

Having said that, most of the great jazz drummers [Elvin Jones comes to mind], and people like Carlton Barrett of The Wailers, are both more engaging as artists, more enjoyable to listen to, and probably more technically acute, but when you're talking about drummers; REAL drummers, you need to contemplate a complex formulation involving raw volume, IQ (should be low), length of hair, size of kit, and intangibles like KICKIN' TAIL.

Neil Peart
Lars Ulrich
Phil Rudd (cuz of his restraint)
Keith Moon (cuz of his lack of restraint)
John Bonham
Bill Ward
Vinnie Appice
Alex Van Halen
Neal Smith (Alice Cooper)

Im surpized to see Lars mentioned so much. While I am a fan of Metallica (especially the older stuff) He has to be the one of the sloppiest drummers in the biz. Pretty much a one trick pony with his double kick drums. I have taught students that play better then he does.

Jack DeJohnette.
Mike Clark.
David Garibaldi.
Dennis Chambers.
Alex Acuna.
Elvin Jones.
Philly Jo Jones
Max Roach
Jimmy Cobb
Tony Williams
Billy Cobham
Neil Peart

Neil Peart tops the list.

But I always thought John Densmore was vastly underrated.

And I'll take Alan White over Bill Bruford any day.

And I don't think anybody has mentioned Ginger Baker.

Neil Peart. If I ever win the lottery, I'll recreate his 47-piece R-30 drum kit and spend the rest of my days making my neighbors call the police. That guy is unbelievable...
