Fresh oil change for the Grand Marquis this evening. The Synthoil Energy 0W-40 + MoS2 was in service for exactly 16,010 km (10,006 miles).

Dumped in a 500 ml can of Pro-Line Engine Flush with the old oil, and let the engine idle for 15 minutes. What came out was literally jet black, but the results so far have been rather impressive.

There was a slight vibration issue with my engine at idle, which has now completely disappeared. The engine now runs as quiet as a mouse, and I've noticed a slight bit of water (by-product) coming out both my tailpipes, which just wasn't happening before. The engine is also rev happy and much more responsive. Merging on a highway this evening, it was not at all reluctant to hit 160 km/h (100 MPH), and I didn't even notice!

What went in was Liqui-Moly Top Tec 4200 5w30 (ACEA A3/B4/C3-04, VW 50400/50700 (2004), MB-Sheet 229.51 and BMW LongLife-04) with MoS2. Also used a Motorcraft FL-820S and FA-1032 air filter.

Interesting...

Isnt the MOS2 jet black? Not much pigment is required to stain an oil dark black... Look at any diesel's "fresh" oil right after an oil change...

The MoS2 is actually dark grey, and gives the oil a greyish tint (but not jet black). I beleive a picture was posted by one of our Australian members, but I can't find it.

Used oil + Liqui-Moly MoS2 is pretty darn jet black from my experience. Shoot used oil is pretty jet black by itself the Moly just seems to add another level of blackness within the blackness.

Color isn't much good for determining oil quality... unless you are talking about the color of a chunk of junk that just came out of your drain hole. In which case you have sludge or something else wrong.

I changed my oil tonight in my 30,000 mile TDI Jetta (VW) and I used a can of the Liqui-Moly engine flush also. I have a diesel engine so the oil is always ink black anyway. There was 11,000 miles on this drain interval and I don't know whether it did any good or not but I'm impressed with the other Liqui-Moly products.

I will let the oil drain over night and refill tomorrow morning. I'm not a big believer in the 10 minute oil change.. I'm more of a 10 HOUR man!

Which engine flush was it?

Liqui-Moly carry quite a few engine flushing products. The one I used was from their "Professional" line (in a black/blue/silver can), and the gentlemen I'm in touch with from LM told me this is a much stronger chemistry compared to the others.

The product I used was the same as yours. In the USA it's labeled as Lubro Moly instead of Liqui Moly so it's LubroMoly Pro-Line Engine Flush, product code 2037. It comes in the 1/2 liter can just like everywhere else.

That's the one. The one with the Liqui-Moly label just has a 2427 product code.

Some old lady owns the rights to the Liqui-Moly name in the US, and an insane figure was requested to buy the rights to the name, which is why they used the name "Lubro-Moly".

Suppose with 30,000 miles, there wasn't much for it to clean. VW oils have an excellent ability to prevent piston deposits and sludge, which was partly why I went with the Top Tec 4200.
