Let us talk about our cell phones, plans and accessories.
I have a Samsung M300, which is overall OK. Although I would prefer the RAZR now that it is only 30.00 more. I have the $30/Mo plan which gives me 1000 evenings and weekends, and 100 anytime. For texting I pay 5.00 a month, which gives me 100 texts. The battery life is only around 3.5 hrs talk time, which isn't that great.

What have you got?

1. Locus GSM service on ATT's network on a Motorola V360. $10/month which includes something over an hours talk time which is more than we ever use.

2. Locus CDMA service on Verizon's network on a Motorola V265. Some price and and about the same talk time.

I'm probably one of the few people left who uses a cell phone only as a phone. I don't take pics, text message, etc. So when I need a new phone I just go to e-bay and find the least expensive current GSM phone that is unlocked. Right now I'm using a Motorola C168i. I think I paid $10 for it, NIB.

That's me. We have three phone plan, soon to add a 4th with Verizon. Goal is to keep the bill under $60.....but the gov. fees are crazzy arse.......say no more. Mine is some iteration of Samsung.

I have T-Mobile with a Razr phone (limited edition Miami Ink dragon tattoo version -- very cool!) with the basic MyFaves plan. It gives me 300 anytime minutes along with 5 people for free at any time, free customer-to-customer calls, free minutes after 9pm and free weekends ($40). I also paid extra for unlimited text/picture messaging ($15), so in total I pay $55 a month.

I have a Blackberry 7130E. I like it, a lot. I have had it over 1 year and it still has great battery life in my opinion.

Though I have been having trouble with the scroll wheel. I sprayed some Amsoil Metal protector on it, and it seem to make it work better. It must have had some dirt or dust on the contacts or something.

I have the family share plan with 700 minutes, I also pay for the blackberry plan which has unlimted internet.

My total bill is around $140 per month. I added the text plan this month as a christmas present for my daughter. This will also free up some minutes for me since she would rather text. I also have found texting useful. Especially when i want to catch someone and make sure they got my message.

Which service do you use it on?

Cingular (now AT&T).

I call them Crackberries. Everyone that has one, is addicted.

I'm with you G-man. No text or camera. Flat face, Nokia eBay phone for $10, but used, with ok battery. I got this "new" phone because it can utilize their free contact manager software called "Backup Assitant" which lets me store and manage all my names and numbers online, then download to/upload from my phone anytime for free. Been out of contract for several years. Verizon keeps offering me free minutes or phones to get me to sign on for a year or 2. The single phone, 900 minute plan costs about $65/mo total.

Virgin Mobile, $20 every 3 months. I bought a Kyocera phone for $15. Virgin uses the Sprint network and I've never had a problem getting service anywhere. No camera, no texting. And to show you how much I use the thing, I currently have over $140 in credit on the phone.

I prefer to keep microwave transmitters far from my brain, so use my phone as little as possible. still need to pick up a hands free cable for it...

Oh I have the LG BlueTooth headset (HBM 550)
I use it, but not much. It has less microwave-ness to it.

Some Samsung thing from Verizon with our equipment upgrade. I have everything under the all in one deal (DSL/landline/cellular) thing. 4 phones on the plan.

Mine is more useful to other people. I could care less about most of the features and haven't figured a need for them yet. Not that I'm short for words

..but I really don't have a major compulsion to reach out and touch someone via the cell phone. Email works for most of my communication needs.

My daughter and her galpal discovered the fun and great times of test messaging. 280 one month followed by over 400 the next month (it took a bit for the effect to sink in). I could not imagine what could possibly be any sensible use of time with hammering out all those key strokes when a simple call would accomplish that much and more. I then find out that the neighbor's wife, who's attending college, says that she's text messaging people in class constantly. She said, and this is a 30'something year old, that people don't pass notes anymore in class. Now this could really be useful if you're not up to snuff on some exam and there's an "ace" in the class ..but really now...

Can you imagine the millions of $$$ per month that people are just blowing out the door with this (for the typical non-productive use) silly feature??

I upgraded her phone to the tune of $5/month for 250 messages/month (something like that). I wasn't going to go $10 for the unlimited.

You have got to be kidding me. Millions of people spinning some serious rubber just to talk and text with no productive purpose to it. How did we make it this far ..and how much further can we make it with this type of mania dependency soaking up so much productive revenue?

Vodaphone (local company) pre-paid motorola...8 years old.

Did the usual gift of buying the same gift as my sister for one or both of my parents...got them something else, and used the phone for ourselves.

Can't even change the ring tone on it.

$60 p.a. in overly pricey pre-paid usage. $30 every two years for a new battery. (although I think I've worked out how to make the next one for less than $10)

My mom pays $115 (including taxes) a month for Cingular with 1000 anytime minutes, unlimited nights and weekends, text messaging for my sister, two additional lines, and unlimited cell to cell. We probably could do with less minutes but thats the lowest priced plan where we can have three lines on one plan.

My sister and I have Samsung A707's. I like my phone, the ringer can be a little louder though. The camera actually takes decent pictures if you can hold still and have decent light. It serves as my house phone in college since my roommates and I didn't get a landline. I pretty much don't use it for anything else except making calls which is about 300-400 minutes a month if not less. My sister does most of the talking. And it's good for making long distance calls so we don't have to have domestic long distance on our home phone. I also have a cheap $10 Nokia for when I forget to charge the Samsung which is often. It wouldn't matter too much if I didn't have my phone on all the time but my mom freaks when she can't get a hold of me.

I got the M500 with Sprint. Pay $59 a month for two phones. I had all the text/internet stuff blocked at sprint.com because we'll never use it. I look at it like if you don't have time to talk to me, then you ain't got time to text. Nothing can be that dang important.

I have opus's deal. Kyocera k10 royale is basic except it has a pretty nice LED flashlight. I don't talk much and use it and its voicemail as a "business" phone when I sell a car so the wife doesn't have to deal with the inevitable wierdos.

If you really have time to burn, virgin lets you log on to their website "Sugar mama" and watch various ads etc for credit for your minutes.

Texting is nice for discreetly messaging someone when it would be impolite to yak loudly. Waiting for a table at a restaurant etc.
