Ok, guys I drive a pos 05 Chrysler Town and Country. It has 75,000 miles on it. For the first 50,000 miles I either used Valvoline 5w20 or MC 5/20. I then use Mobil 1 5w20 syn. for about 15,000 miles and then went back to MC 5/20. My engine is leaking oil from around the intake manifold and onto my exhaust. Would this be cause the the use of syn. oil?

Does a semi synthetic cause leaks?
Should I try a high mileage oil or just go up to a 5w30?

The oil is not to blame. If you have a issue with a seal synthetic oil might show you that by cleaning some gunk, but it did not cause the leak.

Try 5w30 Maxlife. See what happens.

What is the amount/rate of leakage? A tiny amount of oil on exhaust will cause rather a lot of smoking/smell. Is this the concern? You may figure out a way to redirect the leaking oil away from exhaust.

It is not a large enough amount where my dipstick is showing oil loss. Just enough to [censored] you off because you can smell the oil hitting the exhaust and some smoke sometimes. So its ok to go from the 5w20 to 5w30 in the 3.3. By the way, its not an overhead cam motor is it? My guess is a regular hydraulic roller cam motor.

The difference from 5w20 to 5w30 is not really that much thickness wise. If your comfortable with 5w30 I'd just go to 10w30. The base oil is thicker than the 5w30's, and therefore should leak less.Ohio's ok for 10w30 so I imagine Texas should be even better for it. If you could degrease the area of leak well enough some high temp silicone could be used to make a little dam or diverter to keep oil away from exhaust.
