Some of the problem is all these projectors that are in everything have a relatively sharp cutoff between light and dark. Some people don't like that, so they crank the adjustment way up.
The one vehicle I drove with sealed beams had decent lights, but the H13's in my Caliber or 9011 swapped projectors in my 300 blow them out of the water.
