I live in the Phoenix area. Pep boys used to carry Kendall oil and I've been looking for a local distributor. (Yes, I know I can order online etc) After coming up short, I saw a link on the Kendall website that listed "Find a service location" or "find a store"

Only one store came up when searched. I called them and they want $6 a quart for the blend. I then called a few service locations and only one said he would sell oil to me. (But didn't have any until mid Feb. ??)

I emailed the corporate office and asked them a detailed question about locating and providing a reasonable source for their oil. All I got back was an email with the "search link".

It's no wonder they are losing market share.

Nice. Thanks Kendall! I think I'll stick with my PYB.

Who needs hand me down Kendall....now on its 3rd or 4th owner. Its Kendall in name only, much like former sister brand Amalie.

What is Amalie? Apparently my wife's 2005 turbo Subaru Legacy gets it (4k OCI). Her Subie indy has stacks of boxes of the stuff and seems to be at other decent Indy.

Amalie Motor Oil. They make Wolf's Head.

Decent stuff but a little pricey for what it is....

JGmazda,

When PEP BOYS had them on their shelves everyone snatched Kendall oil like there was no tomorrow! It took me almost three years coming in now and then for other parts to get just a enough for about two oil changes until the rumor began to surface that Kendall won't be sold at PEP BOYS anymore.

OH well it was a fantastic oil for such a good price. Like you said just stick to your oil of choice and forget the past.

Conoco-Phillips bought the Kendall brand, and now its oils are formulated the same as Conoco and Union 76 oils. The real descendent of the Kendall of old is Brad Penn, made in Bradford, Pennsyslvania.

If you are itching to try this oil. I recommend you try TROP ARTIC from Phillips. It can be bought from something around 2.30 a qt by the case in the Phoenix area. I found it in Tempe for 2.36 a qt. PM me if you want to know the details.

If not I have let it known I am a biased SOPUS user so thumbs up on your PYB use.

In my opinion your better off. And you can find PYB almost anywhere.

Firestone service centers use Kendall. Maybe they would sell you some of their bulk if you bring in a container.

Tires Plus in my area uses Kendall as well.

If Conoco-Phillips was much more available/easier to find, I would consider using it. But I`m certainly not going out of my way for it. Or putting Motorcraft oil in my car. (mental thing)

+1. I see no need to jump through hoops to buy someones oil. Some of the best oils in the world can be purchased at WM.

That was true but the Kendall brand has been owned by Phillips for a while now.

Only place I've actually seen Kendall for sale at a reasonable price is "Pilot" truck stop/rest stop convenience stores, they had it for $3.99 a quart everyday last time I was in one. I have no idea if those are in the southwest or not.

Otherwise the occasional 66 station will have it but for something like $6 a quart. Not!

I agree the response to your inquiry was lame.

Hey Guys.... Thanks very much for all your responses and advice.

I am in 100% agreement with those that recommend I forget the Kendall and stick with my PYB.

Why would I pay a company $6 per quart for an oil when Kendall (ConocoPhillips) does little or nothing to help promote their product? It's not worth the aggravation.

I was intrigued by the nice UOA's and "sleeper" advantage. I just don't want to pay for the privilege.

I hope they one day get their act together. Thanks everyone for your opinions!

Wait for AutoZone to have a sale. Last time is was $3.99/qt for full syn. It depends on the region too, here in the Midwest, it is fairly popular and available pretty much everywhere. CoP also makes Motorcraft and Honda oils. I doubt they need to push the Kendall line when you can get Trop Arctic and Motorcraft oils pretty much anywhere. Plus, Firestone and many (at least where I live) indy shops use Kendall bulk oils and lubricants. I know a few shop owners, and they like the way ConocoPhillips handles the commercial accounts. IMHO, ConocoPhillips oils are just as good as any other name brand oil. I use and recommend them.

Autozone's out here in AZ. do not carry Kendall oil. At one time they did. I'm glad to hear you like their oil. I think it's unfortunate that they have abandoned this market area.
