I rarely shop at K Mart and evidently, by the nearly completely vacant store, neither does anyone else. Now I know why:

Local K-Mart:

4 qt jugs of (yes, 4 qt jugs)
Havoline dino = $6.69
Pennzoil dino - $8.69
M1 = $18.98

Single qt bottles:
PZ dino = $2.19
Havoline = $1.69
M1 = $4.99
(0w-30 Tri Synth available)

Yeah, there's a reason they went bankrupt. I wish there was a walmart around here...k-mart's all I got.

Maybe its different by you, but by me I am disgusted every time I go to wal-mart. Sure, they have a pretty nice oil selection, but thats about it. Nothing but sloppy, annlying people hitting their kids, yelling, being obnoxious, and then the service. Didnt they say if there were more than 3 people in a line, they'd open another register? HA! their service sucks... nobody knows anything, theyre all idiots and completely useless. Not even friendly. And I'm going to wait in line for 15 minutes to check out for that? No way... For oil I'll go there, but for nothing else. Saving 20 cents for something I need isnt worth it. Nor is buying their crappy produce in the interest of saving 10 minutes, when I could get 10x better stuff at the grocery store down the road for the same price. And I dont even live in a rural area!

Plus, I read about how they make their 'full time' employees work 39 hours so they dont have to pay benefits? man, talk about a crappy organization, considering how rich all the waltons are off of daddy's good ideas.

K-mart is my discount store of choice for all else but oil. Most other stuff is better at kmart/target anyway. Or else it can be had in better quality for the same or less money with shipping from an online vendor.

Anyway, I agree that k-marts oil prices are too high.

I hear you. When I lived near Chicago I HATED WalMart. If we wanted to power shop we'd travel all the way out to the Super Walmart in Valparaiso, IN. Then they put in a brand spanking new Meijer's in only about 10 miles from our house.

People would never say Hi, or Thank You or anything nice in the near-Chicago WalMart.

After moving to Tennessess proved to me at least, that it's the people that make the difference. The WalMart in Columbia, TN is just one of the best, friendly people, decent prices, people who say "hi! (and mean it), and Thank You to the customer. Night and day difference.

No one in KMart said "hello", though. Of course, there wasn't hardly anyone in the store to say hello! lol

K-mart is the same way here, except every singe thing they sell is at least 25% more than walmart.

That should of explained it right away..Most Large Northern-State cities are like this. Those of you that live there know what I mean....

Well, KMart has done it again. Mobil1 4 quart jugs are priced at $22.99. (Outside of Walmart, Mobil is commanding nearly $6 per quart for M1 products!)

On the positive side, KMart had one and only one decent deal: Exxon Superflo 5w30 SM, which was not priced in the stratosphere, $1.49 each. Not bad.

Walmart sucks regardless of where you go. My wife finally started agreeing with me when she brought our Honda Passport in to have tires replaced and they screwed around with her until she called me and I came up there to find out what was going on. I go there when absolutely needed otherwise I stay away from it like the plague.
Kmart I don't have as much experience with. It surprised the **** out of me when they bought Sears.

I counted all of 11 customers (including the two of us). It's amazing to see an entire store fully stocked, perfectly arranged, with no one in it! I think WalMart has more customers in it at 3AM!

"Come to K-mart for the personal 1-on-1 service experience".

Same here except I go late, after 9pm, and in my store they have the self-checkout lines, where I can almost always breeze through in a minute or less.

There is something to be said for Wal-Mart, though. I like Target better, sure, the clientele difference is a real education in the reality of class in America - but, how often have I gone to Target to get some basic, ordinary product that you can get anywhere, and instead of the basic, ordinary product they have six different fancied up versions of it, none of which fits my needs?

Wal-Mart always has what I need, and it always has a good price on it.

And Warren Buffett has been buying the stock, while the fellow who controls K-Mart is being compared to Buffett, except with K-Mart itself being the equivalent of the original Berkshire textile mills - a company to be used as a cash extraction device while being effectively run into the ground.

As for oil, Wal-Mart is absolutely untouchable. Costco, Target, and the auto parts stores around here can't even come close.
