Just hit 200,000 miles this morning. We bought this car brand new in June of 2007. She survived a deer strike back in November and brought both of my children home from the hospital. The car is dry as a bone underneath and doesn’t burn significant amounts of oil, which is more than I can say about our 2021 Subaru Ascent .

I think there's about 202-204k on my 2008 CR-V EX-L that my daughter drives.

It's "ok", I can't say it's "bone dry" underneath anymore. Looks like the front main seal is leaking, seems to be somewhat a typical issue for these K24 engines. I have an OEM seal and Bando belt ready to go.

Regarding the history, we bought it at 160k miles from the original owner. He did not self-perform service, he took it to a local garage. He claimed he took it every 5k miles for an oil change. I argue that they changed the oil every time. I can say this with confidence based on our prior ownership of a new, off-the-truck 2007 CR-V where I maintained the vehicle from day one. I can also tell when proper maintenance has been performed well and I just don't see it with this car.

Anyway, I have replaced struts (that were original) with cheap chinese 1AAuto struts (I regret this), I replaced the high-pressure PS hose (a common issue), VVT solenoid (seems to be a common issue) and now I will soon get to the front main seal. Not a bad deal over 200k miles, certainly nothing compared to a Big 3, EuroTrash, Korean make or the like. It had some cheap chinese tires on it when we bought it, I put a set of Michelin 80k Mile tires on it about a year later. My daughter said that alone made it ride like it was on a cloud compared to the previous tires.

IMO, these were fairly expensive vehicles when they came out with this Generation, I am a little disappointed in the overall condition of the vehicle, especially interior. They all seem to have the leatherette that is onion-skin thin, coming apart on the door handle and arm rests, the leather seats show wear, etc.

As someone who buys Toyota/Lexus vehicles and is meticulous about maintenance, 200k miles is merely a stepping stone to a car's life. I realize I'm being pretty tough on that subject, but this isn't 1982 where 100k was the life expectancy. We should all expect 300k as the bare minimum today.

Do you have the 2.4??? I had that in my 07 Accord and had 386000 on it when I traded it in... That is a great engine...Had no issues at all with it and the auto transmission too...

Yes, his has the 2.4L engine. Those were around since 2004 or so. These early years were the best. Honda screwed them up about 2011 or so...

Well when I traded it in 2021 I got a Honda HRV sport AWD... I like it and it has the 1.8 engine that Honda has used for many years in the civic and the fit...My worry is the CVT long term...

Our '07 Accord K24 (bought new by us) has 112k miles now. It's a baby in this crowd! Great car and engine,
only routine maintenance so far.
At what mileage did you guys do the valve adjustment? I know it's due now, but I'm guessing a lot of them
don't get done until much higher mileage.

On my Honda the first and last was around 120000...they actually were not off my much...

Range is related to battery pack capacity. We should remember that the CT is not only physically smaller than originally planned, it contains far less battery capacity than the 200-230kWh battery pack originally planned.

Like it or not, batteries are expensive and heavy, the price has not declined much recently. To make an affordable truck, choices had to be made. The technology exists to equip trucks with 230kWh battery packs. Some GM products are available with large battery packs.

The going rate for an assembled pack seems to be about $130 per kWh. That means such a large pack costs the auto manufacturer about $30K.

NOTE: As always lithium is among the most active metals on the periodic chart. There are no magic alternatives that allow us to move more ions, as there is a finite number. Lithium is king, and will remain so.

My first valve adjustment will be about 205,000 miles 😮. Not good I know, but this summer I’ll have the time.

I agree about the leather being very thin and tearing in multiple places. The only things I have done are

rear struts at 170k
New starter at 186k
New belt and tensioner at 180k
And new ac compressor a few of them…100k, 150k and another under warranty by local shop (failed within 2 years 24k local shop honored it no problem)

I forgot about the starter. Had a shop near my daughter's college put one on, about $350 total.

I did the valve adjustment at about 180k. I'd say 5 of the 8 needed a minor adjustment. Kind of a pain. Make sure you order the special Honda valve tool before even starting. Get the Fel Pro gasket kit.

This is a might-as-well job. Do an oil change, spark plugs, valve adjustment and valve cover gasket all in one. Take the plugs out, take the valve cover off and do the valves. Turn the engine over with a 19mm wrench on the power steering pump pulley. Taking the plugs out helps turn the engine over easy.

Ah, the mighty K24. Our 2006 TSX has a measly 220K on the clock and has lived on a steady service diet of M1 5w30. Trans has had DW-1 and Idemitsu equivalent services. Fresh brake fluid and antifreeze.
I never check the oil and would drive it to NY right now. New set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S are fantastic!

Issues: PS pump (used cheapo Amazon pump), 2 water pumps, 1 starter, 1 failed coil, fake Amazon NGK plugs. Maybe some AC juice?
Here she is after I replaced a stone cracked fog lamp 9 months ago.

Our 2005 CR-V is at 314,400km. Love the vehicle, the manual transmission, and the K25 has been solid. It goes through a couple litres of oil per OCI but that has stayed consistent since we bought at 220,000km.

Replaced the starter recently and otherwise it’s been mostly maintenance items like trans and diff fluids, brakes, valve adjustment, sway bar links, etc…

Congratulations on the 200k milestone. It sounds like it's served you well for 17+ years. How many more miles you think it'll go?

Well my buddy has 425k on his 2010 crv gotta pass him lol…I only drive this car to work and back, and my sons drum lessons so 7k miles a year. I wouldn’t hesitate to take it on vacation. I’m frugal and hate car payments so I’d say until rust or god forbid another deer strike do us part. It’s nice knowing you own something outright and I do take great care of it I don’t mind getting it dirty or throwing my fishing gear into it. And plus it is a pleasure to work on.

Here's to your next 425k milestone. 🍻
