Good point. The exception to this is when you're plumbing it across a Permacool sandwich. Then no restrictor is required since no flow is bypassing the engine. It's only an issue with a zero pressure return.
Unless you have a sandwich adaptor and the bypass filter is emptying after shutting off the engine. In this case a flow restrictor connected at the sandwich's outlet could be used to slow down the oil gushing into the filter during engine startup.
Do you think, mjo? Air really isn't going to have too much trouble with an outlet restrictor ..or so I would imagine. That's why the BIG ..hmm..the Luberfiner 750 bypass filters require a restrictor on the inlet. They take a few gallons to fill and while it's filling only air is exiting the filter. I would imagine the same thing would happen with any emptied filter of any size.
I agree that most don't have ADBV ..so they can surely empty.
You will get all the life the engine was designed for just running Amsoil oil and their oil filters at Amsoils oil change recommendations . Probably the Rotella you are using could go 10,000 miles. If you look at the whole picture Amsoils bypass setup is the way to go, use the standalone bypass head. I wouldn't put a bypass on my F250 superduty though I thought about it.
Yes ..and a 307 2bbl SBC gets any chassis that it was installed in from point A to point B ..I assure every SBC owner with a Crane cam and roller rockers ...383 stroker..fancy intake and mega wide-throated carb that this is absolutely true. Same thing with G78x14 tires ..perfectly good for rolling any car down the road. Both will work just fine in/on Vettes, Chevelles, Novas, street rods, coupes ..T-buckets, you name it.
Somehow they don't listen to me either. I don't know why
I'm very happy with the setup I had installed. I'll pay 1/4 as much for each replacement filter, compared with the Amsoil BP replacement. And, the filters I'm going to continue to use will filter the oil sufficiently to give me more peace of mind, since they are actually refrigerant filters.
The 383 stroker would probably pull my 32' fifth-wheel well enough through the Rockies, but I'd have to have another job to pay for the fuel!! Seriously, I've driven a NEW Charger with a 383 and it was hot enough to cost me a ticket! I just couldn't keep my foot out of the carburetor. Of course, that was about 30 years ago, when fuel was cheap.
