In my neighborhood we have Jewel grocery stores. A few years ago they started selling gas (cheaply). Last year they all became Shell branded with a Jewel Express convenience store. Now that means that at one intersection there is a Jewel Express/Shell station on one corner, and then a regular Shell station right across the street. The prices are the same but I'm pretty sure the owners are different. Would they have the same gas, or do Shell station owners buy gas from wherever?

its all the same basic gas.
shipped by pipeline or whatever.

its not like you get actual "shell" gas from a shell refinery
I mean it may happen but it would just be coincidence unless the refinery is across the street.

and they both are required to use the shell additive package.

So should be the same.

This is what I figured. I've seen Shell branded tankers delivering gas before (Mobil also) so I'm not sure if they have a deal with a distributor or what.

How can gas have the shell additive package if it isn't shell gas??

Really? Even though the Jewel Express is now branded Shell?

That seems like false advertising to me.

My understanding is:

If they are branded with Shell then either they have the standard Shell additives like any Shell station, or they are cheating and if Shell catches on the cheater will pay.

But the actual gasoline is the same, as already mentioned above.

Once upon a time before Flying J went bankrupt they had some stations branded Shell, some branded Conoco, perhaps some others, and some unbranded. I expected the same deal there - if it was Conoco branded they had Conoco additives blended into whatever gasoline was delivered to them.

Why do you "guarantee"? If you have proof, let us see it.
