Not that it is right across the board, like any stereotype... but there is some truth to it in how groups of kids act down the shore in the summertime. Like it or not.
That said, this show is exactly the type of reason why I refuse to pay my hard-earned money for television.
A large percentage of the 'guidos' at the Jersey shore actually come from Staten Island, NY. Their 'ancestors' emigrated from Brooklyn since the Veranzano Bridge opened (1964).
PS: The toll on the Veranzano Bridge is currently $10 but is set to rise to $14. It's outrageous considering that this bridge links two boros of NYC.
CORRECT!! (and just as many from Broiklinn/Bensonhoist-purposely misspelled to emphacize their accent
)
This is why they are often referred to as the "bridge & tunnel crew".
I have given up on my own state's shore, mainly due to these 'Tony S/Gotti' types taking it over during the summer.
The irony is that when I want to go to a shore area, I pass right by
their habitats on my way out to Montauk (which has some of the nicest beaches in the country!).
