Ugh, it just sounds dirty - will attempt to run PYB in the 4.0 engine w. 133,000 miles on it.

Question, shall I do #1 or #2?

1) 6 qts. of PYB w. a M1 filter?
2) 5 qts. of PYB w. a qt. of MMO & an M1 filter?

I plan on 4000 mile OCI. Thanks.

PYB will do what?! over any other oil in its category? Just look at the % of Ca and Zn for detergency. I find Mobil clean a cleaner oil. Pay no attention to the advertising claims "balogna" on the oil bottle label - its absolutely meaningless. Try the new Mobil Super clean 5000 SN GF-5 at wm for 11.50 a 5q jug. Cant beat it with a stick. Ive run the new PYB last oci and prefer the MS5k hands down in the 09 forester. = +2mpg.

As a devoted user of MMO, I first must ask you what exactly are the sounds your engine is making? If its a valve tick or a knocking in general? Perhaps your hearing excessive injector noise too?
I had 98 XJ with the 4.0. Ran great. I'd do 5 quarts of conventional and 1 full quart of MMO for 3k miles then change again. Filter of your choice.

PYB was designed for Jeeps in NJ, not Subaru's in NH.

Brother Demar, great seeing you again!
Thankyou to everyone.
Its just sounding different guys, and yes BustedNutz, Valve chatter, that lifter tick comes and goes. But the reason I ask was because PYB's cleaning abilities are legendary on this board and I didn't know if 6 qts of it would be a stronger, deeper cleaning liquid or if 1 qt. of MMO - with its own legendary cleaning abilities on this board, would be a great fit with 5 qts. of PYB.

Bran muffin or bran muffin with a bit of that Orange power to really flush out the system, you know what I mean? In this case MMO with 5 qts of PYB 5-30 for 3000+ miles, then another dose of the same concoction before I pour in the M1 TDT. Thanks for your time everyone, I think its #2 so far - Pun Intended!

Hooah.

Hey Army guy, great seeing you too! I'd start off easy. A pint of MMO in 5.5 qts of oil, drive it 3000 miles of your 4000 mile OCI and add another pint of MMO at the 3K mark. If it were the start of the winter I'd add a qt and run it the full OCI.

Since the bottle recommends 20% (that would be 1 qt of MMO, to 4 qts of motor oil), and your engine requires 6 qts; you should have no problems using 1 quart of MMO, to 5 quarts of Motor Oil....

I use a pint in my little 4-4.5 qt. crankcase :P A pint in a case that takes 6 quarts won't clean much.....

As far as oil change, yea, go with the Mobil Super 5000 Clean - err....is it Mobil Super now? lol....don't even know, they created a monster, keep changing the names every 8 months it seems....!

If you really wanna blow all the old [censored] and P00p out of it, add the MMO, and a bottle of KREEN to the Mobil clean or PYB.
Thats like a box of Colon Blow and a couple Bran Muffins in one sitting.
