I like the new forum! Quick question. What do the ISO codes represent? In other words, I got a UOA done the other day and I got a particle count. It said my ISO code was 14/13/10. The lab said that was clean but what does it mean? Is it a certain size of particles in each category? Thanks for the help.

The cleaner the oil, the longer the mechanical component will last.

Because the life of a vehicle isn't indefinite, the masses don't need to worry about ISO or even a UOA.

But, if you keep your vehicle forever and plan on giving it to the great grand kids when they get their license, then its good to know how well your oil, your oil change interval, and your filter are doing.

If the UOA was with Blackstone, they will mail you the UOA report with the particle count attached, showing the size of each particle they found.
