my car currently around 2000 miles. I want to try ARX when it around 8000 miles and will be change oil at 10,000 miles.
Good?

Seems rather unnecessary to ARX that early, except as a maintenance dose. But without knowing the engine/vehicle, it's hard to say when an ARX might be beneficial to you.

I gather you're planning to run the factory fill out to 10k. Not my way of thinking (I always dump the factory fill at 500, unless it's a break in formula), but some engines have big enough sumps to make it reasonable to do so.

Why? I can not imagine that the engine has enough of anything in it for Auto-Rx to do anyting! Few engines are sand cast anymore and anything left init should come out with the oil and filter change! It takes at least 35,000 mile to have enough build up for Auto-Rx to be worth while. If you want to add something as a maintence item try out Lube Control!!! It is a good cleaner and is designed to keep the engine and oil cleaner longer!

Not good, more like dumb!

That is an absolute waste of money. I'm just trying it now in my 95 Nissan Maxima with 59K mostly highway miles on it and question how beneficial it will be. How much sludge and varnish do you think you will find in an engine with 10,000 miles on it - none I would say!

The first thing you should do is not extend your firt oil change to 10,000 miles.

What kind of oil are you using - dino or synthetic?. When does your owner's manual say to change the oil?

Many people change their oil prior to the manufacturer's recommendation.

the owner's manual suggested every 10,000 miles for changing oil. uses 0W-20 synthetic oil. But some people would suggest to go to do oil change thousand miles b4 the suggested oil changing period. I am just new car and first car owner, don't have any experience. Just wandering with the internet and found out this site. I was going to use lucas oil stabilizer but after saw the experience from Bob, I stop that "horrible idea". LOL

Ten thousand is likely the normal service warranty OCI. It may not be right for you or your driving habits.

If you're really serious about this, then change the factory fill at 5,000 and get a UOA. Check the archives to see what others with your engine are running and the UOAs on various oils. Run the oil you think is best, then run a couple more UOAs until you have an idea what the optimal OCI is.

You don't have to change out the oil at 500 or 1,000 miles. Some of us do that out of long experience and habit. It might still help with these newer engines; at the worst you discard some oil too soon.

We still don't know what vehicle or engine you have. The 0w-20 only gives a rough clue.

0W20 - this wouldn't be a Honda Insight or similar car would it? Maybe a Toyota hybrid small car like the Prius?

If you are wanting to extend the factory fill, you could let it go to 3-4k miles, but I certainly wouldn't go any further.

What kind of driving conditions?

BTW, I wouldn't use a bottle of ARX until about 50k miles, if even then. You could use it as a maintenance dose as mentioned or Lube Control as also previously mentioned.

I dont think it would be useful whatsoever. However, using a maintenance dose certainly wouldnt hurt to keep things clean from the start.

Sounds like this guy has a Honda Civic Hybrid, which specs a 0w-20 oil.

However, this 0w-20 appears to be a conventional.

Sadly, Mobil discontinued its 0w-20 at the launch of the new 5w-20 oil, which left Civic Hybrid owners with the only choice of the dealer 0w-20, or the lesser known Synergyn 0w-20 oil.

Luckily, Pennzoil is launching a Pennzoil Platinum Synthetic 0w-20 for hybrids in August, which should make oil changes much easier since the oil can be obtained just about anywhere.

bobo-

Even if your engine is clean after all the highway miles, running AutoRx on it will at least give you some peace of mind.

My dad's 2001 civic benefits little from the recent AutoRx run (82000kms to date) but nonetheless, I still did it. Why? I want this engine to last in excess of 300,000kms (or my money's worth).

Quest -)

My B6 block received moderate benefits whereas my wifey's Camry Vee6 got the most benefits out of 2 runs of AutoRx...clean as a whistle and runs smoother too...

Yes, Quest, I want my car can serve me around 250,000 - 300,000. I was going to add ARX as maintenance propose. But I won't try that as maintenance b4 10,000 (first oil change). Actually, i decide to have oil change around 8,000. For you guys' treasures (suggestions). I will try that after 30k miles.
Michael, you're right, I have the lemon Civic Hybrid. well, (lemon door). One of the door has a annoying problem. Sent to dealer twice. But engine and everything are good.
I can change oil myself because I don't have equipment. The M-1 0w-20 was my first choice but it's discontinued and hard to find. a quart Honda 0w-20 motor oil is around $3.20. Not really expensive.

Zeo, just change it was Pennzoil Platinum 0w-20 Hybrid Formula when it comes out...it is a new EOP based synthetic that should be widely avaliable for less than $5/quart once it comes out in August.

the 10,000 mile oil change is the factory suggested. I think follow it would be better idea. But I did get set of BG MOA and 44k and couple STPs Gumout stuff....

BTW, I'd stay away from any BG or STP stuff...the only additives that I'd ever use are:
Neutra
#132
VSPOT
LC20
FP60
Auto-RX

Zeo, if that little hybrid engine acts like the D17 in my Civic, it will run like crap on fuel additives. Take the money you're spending on those and change the factory fill at 5K miles. 10K change intervals are for ideal conditions only. I guess if you live in an area that never sees any traffic, is perfectly flat, and is always between 60 and 70 degrees, you're fine. I'm willing to bet you're not though, because nowhere is that perfect.
