I cant find Mobil 1 15W50 anywhere other than 10$ single qt bottles. I need 10 Qts for a porsche boxter. The only (reasonably priced) 15w50 was napa synthetic at < $6 per qt. Problem is my porsche guy will only use mobil 1. No walmart around me has it. Neither advance or autozone

M1 5w50 is WAY more stout than 15w50.

I'd rather mix M1 5w50 & 20w50 before I purchase and or pour in 15w50.

Every WM here has a full stock of the 5 quart 15W50 jugs. I wish WM would carry Syntec 5W50. See if you can do a site to store order.

I bet that stuff is $$. Who sells it?

I thought it took 0w40, which should be easier to find, along with meeting Porsche's A40 standard required for the Boxster, which Napa/Synpower 15w50 doesn't meet, and neither does M1 15w50.

Valvoline does have Synpower MST 5w40(but unfortunately no Napa-branded equivalent) which is also approved against A40.

I like this one much better than the M1. Looks better on paper too.

Enter you zip and see if any of the stores near you carry it.

Yep..lots of Porsche Boxsters..and other Porsche models running 0w40/5w40 at full tilt wide open on the autobahn for a long time..its all you need, even in Florida.

I just looked at my local walmart - they had M1 15w-50 jugs in stock. But again, it is the M1 0w-40 that carries the official Porsche approval, and not the 15w-50.

If you're looking for 15w-50 and can't find it I suggest either a 15w40 hdeo or a 20w-50 motorcycle oil.
M1 15w-50 on paper is seriously neutered compared to their v-twin oil,and the viscosity difference is on the front end which shouldn't make much difference unless you're driving it in the winter.
And the v-twin stuff is more shear resistant too, however I'd make a decision based on where and how it's driven, taking into account max oil temps and pressures and the minimums of both then go from there.
If m1 0w-40 is allowed I'd use it without question but I'd also consider ambient temps at start up and if it's warm enough I'd seriously consider rotella 15w40 conventional. It's cheap and can take some serious heat and abuse. It also retains its viscosity well which is important if the engine is of the air cooled variety.
And it's cheap enough that you're never trying to extend any intervals trying to get your money's worth out of it.
Just a thought.

Probably because someone (likely another car forum) has the car's owner convinced that M1 15W-50 is the "best" oil for his engine and running anything else will destroy it.
