i don't care if I'm running 20,000 mile OCI or a 20 mile OCI i want the best filtration possible, but again thats me how i operate.

Well, everyone has their own idea of cost/benefit. I assume that most people mean that they chose to use a cheaper filter rather than saying that they literally can't afford the more expensive filter, if they do say that at all (I've not read that lately).

PureOnes are great filters. Are they worth paying double for? Eh, I don't know. I have two on hand for my Corolla. But I got those in sales. I also have an OEM Denso on hand for the Corolla, and it also shows good performance. I have a slew of $0.99 Advance Auto Purolators on hand for the Mopar vehicles. Would a PureOne be the "best filtration possible" for those vehicles? Maybe. Will using them make a difference over the life of the vehicle? Probably not.

I liken a lot of things to brushing your teeth, and to me, this analogy is applicable here as well. Could you/should you brush your teeth after anything goes in your mouth? Even a stick of gum? You could argue that the absolute cleanest strategy is brushing after every chew, yes. On the other hand, a goodly number of people go through life without many dental visits and the occassional brush. I'm sure most of us are somewhere in the middle. I COULD brush my teeth after every bite. But I brush as often as I need so that I don't have cavities at my regular six-month visits. That turns out to be about twice a day.

To me, a filter is the same thing. You could probably argue that an Amsoil filter would be superior to a PureOne. At double or triple the price, will I buy it? No. You could argue that a PureOne is superior to a Classic. At nearly double the price, do I buy them? Rarely, and rarely still at full price.

Everyone's cost/benefit will be slightly different. And it's all good.

Most cars in general would (and do) I think.

My 2 cents.

I agree. As long as the filter is used within its designed parameters (don't run a Classic or Ecore or Fram standard for 15,000 miles), I think pretty much ANY filter out there rates as a "really good filter".

+1 Excellent points. I like the Pure One OF, but the ones I have now I got with one of those great AAP buy $25 get $10 off. So bought 4 P1's got $10 off, great deal on a fine filter.

I too also have a few AAP Total Grips left in my stash that were a great deal at $1.45. I'm running them for 4-5K/6m oci's. And 2 Classics bought with Havoline oil/filter promo and an AAP $10 coupon. Neither as efficient as the P1 but in the long run with regular oil changes, I doubt it will make any difference in how long the engine lasts. It will likely outlast the rest of the car, or my time with it. Both the AAP TG and Classic, like P1, have solid construction, IMO.

Using Amazon pricing with a straight oil filter purchase, I'd likely pay the small difference and get the P1 over the Classic. But, I'd have no qualms about using a Classic especially with an oil/filter combo promo.

Yeah, I don't get it either. For example, I stopped at Walmart on my way home from work and looked at one of the Super Tech ST7317 filters since I'd never taken the time to look at one before. There was all kinds of visible glue at the base plate of the filter. I looked at all 5 or 6 that were on the shelf and they were all that way. Now why would someone use that in order to save only $4 versus a PureOne? Or, if they bought the PureOne 6 at a time on Amazon.com, it'd only cost them $1.50 more per filter.
