Why is he touching the diffs? I would be [censored] if I wanted an oil change and someone went and untorqued all my plugs.....

Best part was , fuel filter looks okay, old and rusty... Lol

Grrr...

Would you be more mad if he was supposed to check the fluid level in the diff and didn't? I'd rather know it was low and have it topped off than be mad at the guy for "messing up the torque". Who friggin cares!?! He used a hand wrench, its gonna be fine so long as it's tight enough not to leak.

Good on him for checking!

I'd occasionally hang out with my brother when he worked at one of these places and he always did all the checks like this. Never saw him get lazy and not do them and it wasn't for my benefit, ill guarantee that.

Unfortunately there are some knuckle draggers that work and own places like this, but that's not true for all of them.

It comes off when the plugs are loosened letting them know if anybody has tampered with them, they are protecting themselves against fraud.

The car is over 1 qt low was his comment when he pulled the dipstick. I guess he forgot it was just shut off less than a minute before he checked it.Then he recommends an oil system cleaner. How convenient....... I'm glad I do my own work.

To compensate they'll overfill it by a quart with their finest "bulk oil". Those places are like playing automotive roulette.

LOL With two or three bullets in the gun.........

I am forced to go to these quick lube places with my company truck. They are leased and that's how the system works. I ve had my share or agrevation. Enough, I would probably trust Walmart more. One time at a the guy pulled the rear end plug and showed it to me and said the plug monitor indicator showed it was due for a differential flush and change. There was a little silver sludge on it. I said OK, wipe it off and put it back in, I ll note it. He freaked out, he said this is a monitor indicator and he could get in big trouble by altering the reading. I said let me see it again, I snatched it from him wiped it off and said I don't see anything. Now put it back. What a idiot. Yeah, literally forced to go go these places.

True the car was shut off only moments before also he put the dipstick in and removes it in under 1/50th of a second....like whiplash

The guy on top is also the pitchman. His job is to up sell the customer as well as be the QC guy. I bet he lures a lot of people into buying/screwing for them services they don't need.

They did use a high quality Mobil 1 oil filter though, although the customer probably paid dearly for it.

I know, that part aggravated me. I'll stick to my own [censored] maintenance.

My company ride lasted well past 250,000 getting either dealer service, or Oil Stop (Chevron) drive-thru's. Yeah, they always tried to bump the sell, but they knew we did not go for it, ever... It's just a game

Your vehicle will last just fine. But I got sick of going to these places & they recommend "oil stabilizers" for an upcharge since the vehicle has over 75,000 miles. Or "your air filter is clogged" when you just replaced it 3,000 miles ago. That's just the start of it...

About 15 years ago, when I lived in Tampa,FL at the time, my best friend told me I should let Jiffy Lube change my oil. He even said he had a $5 off coupon. He knew very well that I NEVER let anyone else do my OCI's but me! He kept asking me to just try it, and would not let up. So, after him practically begging me, I decided to try them.
1997 Ford, F150 XL, 4.2 V6, Auto, about 100K miles. Naturally I wanted to watch them like a hawk. One guy took my VIN then grabbed an oil filter (Pennzoil PZ-42) for the 4.6 and 5.4 engines. I told him that it was the wrong filter. He said no, according to the VIN it used the one he pulled for the V8 in my truck. I told him, lets count the spark plugs. After that, and showing him the TB cover with 4.2 V6 imprinted on it, he still said it was the correct oil filter and that I was wrong. I told him to shut my BLEEPING hood, step away from my truck, and I left so fast that my paint job was trying to catch up with my truck!

Well done!

"One quart low recommend engine cleaner treatment" sounded like something he says with every vehicle. I'm sure there are plenty of recommendations, but "One quart low recommend shorter OCI" sounds better to me.

"One quart low" could be from them putting in too little last time around. I'm not a fan of installing a dry oil filter when it's so easy on this vehicle to fill it 2/3 of the way before putting it on. Frankly, if I saw them testing all my lights and then dry cycling the windshield wipers, I'd tell them to get away from my vehicle and open the bay door so I could leave.

If the vehicle only had 20K miles and the filter looked a bit rusty on the outside, I wouldn't change it either. I've never had an "old rusty looking" oil fuel filter leak from the outside. It's more about the miles on it than the look of it.
